I love to read good books rather than to watch TV crap (Update, October 8, 2009: I have life outside of reading books. It's a relief to get in touch with reality and escape from the World Wide Web, too).
Apparently, my favorite author is the master story teller, Sidney Sheldon, though I haven't read all of his works yet.

I love reading Rowling's Harry Potter books as well. I finished reading all of them, the seventh particularly, hours during dawn before I typed and updated my profile here.
I was also hooked on Lucy Maud Montgomery's Anne of Green Gables and its sequels. I love the way she described the beauty of nature and the world way back then when pollutants aren't present yet. I sympathize with the main character's desperation of a happier world, her misadventures, and her experiences.
I am a quiet type of person and quite reserved. This means I am not outgoing but if somebody really gets to know me, I am cool and fun to be with. Please don't think of me as antisocial and aloof. I am just being careful to befriend the wrong persons.
I recently noticed that some guys and gals here in Shelfari add me as friend in their account. Anyone who seemed and felt he or she likes to add me, he or she is most welcome to do so and I shall gladly accept their invitations :p
Update: November 25.
This is the first time that I explored other Shelfari members' profiles after Anjuelle Floyd added me on her friends list. I found people on her friends list so I decided to read their profile and I did not regret it. I really found cool people who love to read books. Some had read ages more than I had.
Their profiles are well said. I guess I need to add a little story to polish mine a bit. I predict that they would read my profile since I left them a note asking permission for me to add them to my friends in Shelfari. I like to convince them that I could be a great friend at least in Shelfari, if not in real life. I hate to think that I am more articulate on the World Wide Web than in the real world. At least whenever I read content from the pages, I have a hint. Those information are my basis whether to approach the person or not. So, if the information sounds cool, why not give it a try? Why not approach the person to whom that information pertains to?
I have read a profile with a blog excerpt so I would like to replicate that style to my own :p
My mother taught me Abakada but Miss Payuan helped me to learn and read English at an earlier age. No wonder, she is so patient and gentle that's why children enjoy learning not because they are forced to but because of the gentle and slow yet effective means only Ma'am Payuan could render. I even remembered she had given me a light blue book - a compilation of children's English short stories after she has learned that I could finally read and comprehend English. Though sadly that book was thrown and burned away with other old books just to conserve the space of our then small home. But then again provided that a copy of it still exists, I could clearly picture the illustrations included therein and the cover art, yes, even the stories.
So that is my blog excerpt. In the Philippines oftentimes, school children are just limited to text books and to stories they could find in them. My theory is the former neutral concept of a book is then related to the homeworks found in text books which only meant one thing - stress. So, whenever a child picks a book, s/he thinks of stress instead of fun and discovery. Then, s/he would just drop it. Yet, I really owe it to my favorite kindergarten teacher, Ma'am Payuan, who opened the world of wonders through that book she especially gave to me - which lead me to just picking a book and finding out what's in there.
I could still remember when I was in Grade Two, I had nowhere to go to on a stormy afternoon so I sneaked into our school's small library (20 ft by 40 ft in floor area). Hardbound books fascinated me, especially with those having colorful pictures as cover. The librarian was welcome to any child interested to get one and read. So I happened to pick up a children's biology book about an insect's defense mechanisms and henceforth I became interested in biology. I did not know that my mother was asking for me. So, when she spotted me sitting alone on a table inside the miniature library while "studying" that book, she felt happy for me. She thought it was nice for me to study even after school on that kind of weather. She brought me a treat when we got back home. How happy I felt way back then...
The next time I was not just attracted to the cover, but to the title on the book's spine. Still, I only picked hardbound books with glossy pages. I found two books entitled "Crystal Forest" and "Silver Rain." The titles really caught my imagination. It was then that I learned to borrow a book from a library for the very first time in my life. I just asked the librarian and she was so friendly. She smiled and told me when to return them. I never forget hugging the book until I fell asleep on bed and when I felt tired of holding it in my chest with my short arms, I would just place it near my pillow. I savored what I had just read and pictured out of the stories. By the way, all stories in those books that I read then are not scary, just rich in pleasant things a child loves.
Sorry for the lengthy story. I cannot help to fully narrate and elaborate until I feel I have done sufficiently. I hope you had fun reading my tale. Please do add me if you like to, you are so welcome :p « less
