“i couldn't get through this the first time, but i'm glad i tried again. it's a slow, slow, slow read, but it's meant to be. once the "story" (i use the word story pretty loosely) picked up, i got very interested in what would come next. my christian friends would like it more than non-christian friends, because it dwells on explicitly-christian themes and texts.”
“i don't like misogynistic women, and therefore, i don't like elisabeth elliot.”
“this book seriously fucked with me.”
“i don't think i need to read any more david sedaris. i enjoy him on this american life, and i liked this book well enough, but enough already! it was too much of the sedaris clan for my patience.”
“An online quiz told me that this book most closely represented my life (with only 6 questions!). "You believe quite firmly that free will deserted you long ago and far away. As a result, it's hard to take responsibility for anything. Even though you show great potential as a leader of a small 3rd world country, the choices are all made ahead of time. You're rather fond of games involving string. Your fear of nuclear weaponry is trumped only by your fear of ice." HA!I read it all in one day while traveling. It was funny and telling, and could have been written in the present day. I love Vonnegut's work for its timelessness!”
“what a fun book! i forgot i read this until my friend sarah mentioned it tonight. it's a quick read about words and meaning. i highly recommend this!”
“every woman should read this book! it's like a therapy session for getting more out of your life in the workplace.”
“i decided not to finish this book. i loved her other book about clearing clutter, but this one went too far for me for my life right now. i like the premise though.”
“Haunting. From the very first chapter until the bitter end, I was drawn in and horrified at the situation presented to me. Still, a masterpiece.”
“Ugh. Interesting enough, but it's reminiscent of Malcolm Gladwell's style of reasoning... Which is to say, I don't always agree with the conclusion.”
