    I really liked this book. It had enough action and interesting characters in each chapter. I have not read the second one, "City of Ashes". It is a young adult novel, but it kept my interest. I am going to buy the series for my 24 year old daughter. She was a huge fan of the Twilight series.

    Hey Drea,
    Got your question about Twilight. I'm 38, and I enjoyed the book. The writing style is...um...a little fluffy here, very witty there, and I felt it was written ok. I would have edited out some things and had less repetition in places, but that's just me. It's nothing like Anne Rice. I found it entertaining, and it got me to read all four books, so it couldn't be all that bad. Where Anne delivers history, culture, and well woven story lines, Meyer talks more of emotional stuff, and brushes the surface of some themes that could have gone way deeper and been REALLY good. But like I said, it captured me. Took me back to days past, and there were some bits that really hit me, even at my age. I'd say go for it.

    Twilight is very nice, it's young and quite vibrant.... it' wonderful, and expresses the emotions felt by a teenage girl in a wonderful manner. And the story is very captivating also. first time, I cared for vampires.... :)

    Yes, you should read Twilight. The story is told through the eyes of a 16- or 17-year-old girl. I have a 16-year-old and can say that Bella's observations and dialog are pretty accurate and believable. I can't say that I'm a big fan of the fantasy genre but maybe you are ... I read it because it's all the rage with my daughter's friends. Meyer has a nice style that's easy to read because she is aiming toward the teen reader.

    I just finished Steinbecks East of Eden... a classic that I absolutely loved! I thoroughly enjoy his writing!

    I just recently heard of the contoversy surrounding The Golden Compass. I admit I am curious it has definately sparked my curiosity to read it.
