Hello, I was just wondering if, since the other group seems to be dying, if you would like to join my writing group? I love these sorts of things but it's as though every group I find is either dead or dying! Oh, I'm Ruby, by the way.
Try Avi (that's the wrter's name!) "Nothing but the Truth". Realism may not suit you if you are nuts on fantasy, but he's a marvellous writer. It's depressingly about how things can go wildly wrong when you tell the truth. Do you like Philip Pullman's "Dark Materials" trilogy? now a film. Elizabeth.
I love your ambition. Five years ago I had the same one. I realised it in stages. Stage 1: took two writing courses by email. Stage 2: tried unsuccessfully to find a publisher or agent. Stage 3: self published. All this took enormous effort and belief in the book. If you want to write and publish a book, go for it, but you must really want to do it. Good luck! Elizabeth
Thank you for your input. I've read all the Percy Jackson books and find them very amusing. I specially like Mars as a Hell's Angel. I do wonder how kids have the knowldge of the Greek gods to share the joke sometimes. I also like Katherine Fisher's "Oracle " books based on the Greek oracle of Delphi. You're right about humour and seriousness going together in great reads. My ambition is ro write a funny book. It's helpful to get opinions from the group as you are much closer to the preteen age than i am.I'm not so good on your age group (Young Adolescent) as it's not my writing field, but I'm interested.
