Disclaimer: This is more about Shelfari than about me.
Many years ago, I started keeping a list of the books I read by title and author. In the beginning, I didn't think to also include the date - that only occurred to me several years into it. I haven't written any thoughts about the books - just what I've read. The titles speak for themselves, I think.
(Perhaps, one day, my children and grandchildren will find this list and learn something about me by knowing what I read - books that shaped my, and perhaps their, lives. Wouldn't you have loved to know what books your mother and grandmothers read?)
In the meantime, I got sick of my "to read" list being scraps of paper I had stuffed here and there - especially in the pre-Internet days. Finally, I was able to keep track of books I wanted to read on my "wish list" on amazon.com. When I finally read the books, I could remove them from the wish list.
Then along came Shelfari, which allows me to organize what I want to read, what I'm reading, and what I have read all in one place. As an added bonus, it allows me to connect with friends and other book lovers - in giving and receiving recommendations and reviews. I thank my friend, Lynn, for first introducing me to Shelfari.
