I'm a future librarian, I started my second year of library school this fall. My ultimate goal is to end up the director of a small town library, I imagine that will take a while. I guess I'll have to be patient.
I'm a huge horror fan, but I enjoy lots of other genres. King is my absolute favorite, but you won't find too many on my shelf. I... more »

    Hey Katie,
Hope you your copy of UNDER THE DOME, so many characters to follow, but the story keeps moving right along, besides the fact that it was over 1000 pages I finished in four days...no I didn't sleep much, LOL
but hey thats what vacation is for right ? found an interesting book called PIG ISLAND, supposed to be one of the scariest books ever....we shall see.

Take care for now, hope your classes are going well.

Oh, that's right. I'm on so many of these sites, I forget. Yes, that was one of the best movies I've seen in a long time. God, that was creepy...and gross. Loved it!

Looks like you found a very good book on your own. The Ruins by Scott Smith is all that and a bag of chips.

Are you reading 13 bullets for your class project ? I thought it was pretty awesome, and have now read all four books in the series, it really is an interseting take on the Vampire tale with a great police story intertwined.
The fact the the lead Character is a gay state trooper was pretty cool too, it's not often that you have such a strong female lead in a story like this one.

saw your post in the chiller group, made a couple of suggestions, if you you still need to find a horror book, I just remembered a really good one.
"Summer of Night" by Dan Simmons, it takes place in a small town in Illinois in the 1960's and deals with the horrors a young group of boys must face.
Really does a great job with the time period as well as what it is like coming of age at that time.

Hope you like it, I was so impressed I picked up some other books by LeHane, right now I'm reading "Prayers for Rain" by him, it's not as faced pace as Shutter Island, but it seems to be a much darker novel, this one features a P.I.
I'll tell you how it goes, have a great day !

No doubt, it was about a U.S. Marshall investigating a missing persons case in a hospital for the criminal insane, the Author also wrote Mystic River and Gone baby Gone, both were very good movies as well.

Hey, I finally finished Drood. You can check out my review, too. It left me with a so-so feeling. I'm hoping Simmons next one is better.

let me know what you think of URBAN COTHIC, it was pretty graphic at some points, but the story really moves along quickly.
The only thing that bothered me was some of the chacters were very stereotypical, but I will say he did nail the urban scene pretty good.

    Hey thanks for the friendship,
Just started reading the final book in the Dean Koontz " FRANKENSTIEN" series, have you read any of his books ? this is a really different take on the Frankenstein character, set in present day New Orleans.
A mix of sci fi ,mystery and chiller.

You totally have to let me know what you think of Drood. For my last birthday my wife got me an autographed copy of that book, and I just haven't had the time to sit down and check it out yet. I'm really looking forward to it, though. I absolutely loved The Terror and Summer of Night.

    Good to meet ya!

I'm in agreement on Drood. I put the book down for a bit and finished a couple of others before picking it back up. Didn't hold my attention towards the middle sections as much as I had hoped.
