"Let me tell you something, funny boy... You know that little stamp? The one that says New York Public Library? Well, that may not mean anything to you, but that means a lot to me. One whole helluva lot. Sure, go ahead, laugh if you want to. I've seen your type before -- flashy, making the scene, flaunting convention. Yeah, I know what you're... more »

There is nothing that I can said about this novel that I am sure has not been said before...This book is profound, upsetting and should be required reading for all.

This is one of those books that you will either love or hate...Pessl's writing style is highly original and her constant "references" were a welcome addition to the prose however I can see that others found her style distracting, I did not. The plot is great and moves as a good pace. I would recommend to anyone!

I am a big fan of Geraldine Brooks and her husband Tony Horwitz. This book won the Pulitzer Prize in 2006 and deserved it! What a fantastic book that immerses you in March's head and world. A beautiful written escape that I would expect from the author of Year of Wonders.

I really wanted to like this book...All the reviews I read were glowing and I usually really enjoy travel books written with wit and a bit of self-deprecation. This book had all of that but still was boring...I stopped reading with about 25 pages left (I never do that!) because it was like work to try and finish...Probably just me as so many others rave about O'Hanlon but it wasn't my cup of tea.

Rowling did a fantastic job in giving this much-loved series the epic ending it so richly deserved.

This book surprised me...it was much better than I initially thought it was going to be. I bought this for some light, "brain candy" reading and underestimated the author's writing ability. The plot is like a mashup of the move "The Game" and has a litlle of "The Magus" and "The Secret History" so if you enjoyed any of these then chances are good you will also enjoy this...librarians and others with a passion for books and libraries will enjoy this on a deeper level thanks to many "insider" terms and ideas such as cataloguing and shelving systems and references to things such as Boolean operators.

Interesting fictional account of white women being sent to live with a Cheyenne tribe in order to "assimilate" the tribe to white culture (is that an oxymoron?). Not as gripping as I would have imagined it to be but overall a decent read.

Really outstanding. I would recommend this book to anyone as it is a story that everyone should know and it is written in a way that almost anyone could read. The author avoids most grisly details while still imparting the emotional toll that being a child soldier and living in a nation in the midst of a civil war had on him and a nation of his peers.

This book is hit and miss...some chapters are great and highly amusing while others are meh. I like that the other writes all the chapters in the 2nd person in tribute to the Choose Your Own Adventure books. I loved those and the writing did bring me back but ALL of these end badly. :)

Not nearly as good as "Birth of Venus" in my humble opinion. It kept my interest enough to finish the book but that was about it...
