"Let me tell you something, funny boy... You know that little stamp? The one that says New York Public Library? Well, that may not mean anything to you, but that means a lot to me. One whole helluva lot. Sure, go ahead, laugh if you want to. I've seen your type before -- flashy, making the scene, flaunting convention. Yeah, I know what you're... more »

The finest book ever written by the finest writer I ever read! No one has the command of the written word that Winterson displays.

My second favorite Winterson novel with only Written On the Body coming in before it...This is really saying something since I define Written On the Body as the finest book ever written. Yeah I said it! Her writing ability is astonishing and though I tend towards storytellers, Winterson is the best writer I have ever had the pleasure to read.

Great behind the scenes glimpse of Ken Kesey and the Merry Pranksters. This book WILL make you want to drop acid...I've said too much. ;)

This book will change the way you view U.S. history and culture. It should be read by each and every U.S. citizen. The impact of this book should not be underestimated nor should any reader be intimidated by what appears a long and boring history book...give it 50 pages (even if you never read a piece if history or nonfiction in your life!) and you won't stop until you have read every word. Zinn makes it easy and painless to read.

Ever since the first time I watched "Elizabeth" I have been obsessed with Henry, Anne, Elizabeth and all the rest. Gregory does a wonderful job of immersing the reader in their world. I guarantee that you will begin to smell, taste and feel what Tudor England was like while reading this excellent example of the historical fiction genre.

Delillo does a masterful job of presenting us with a fictional portrayal of Lee Harvey Oswald and the events and machinations leading up to the assassination of JFK. Anyone who loves a good conspiracy story should pick this book up at once!

This was the first Stephen King book to really get me reading Stephen King religiously. For those who think of King as the "Master of Horror" I have to say, yes he scares the living hell out of you but he is also a highly underrated storyteller. This is a great example of King at his finest.

    Hitler's Niece: A Novel

This is an interesting and disturbing work of historical fiction. For those who pan the book for being wildy inaccurate I have to shout...it's FICTION! Yes, it is based on real people and the author did some research but this is still meant as a fictional account of the relationship between Hitler and his niece, Geli. The ending is interesting since it offers a different possibility for how this relationship ends. That is all I'll say for those who have not yet read this or who are not aware of what occured in reality for Geli.

This is THE dystopian novel! Many will argue that George Orwell did it first and better...I will admit he did it first, and nothing against Orwell, but this novel takes your breath away! Truly an amazing work which will leave you thinking of it long after you have finished.
