Terrific book. It's long and is a bit of a slow starter, but it definitely kept me up several nights. And now I'm fascinated with Ethiopia.

LOVED it. I was an agnostic/atheist for about sixteen years, during which I wish someone would have handed me this book. But I probably would have doubted it anyway. Arrg! Stupid! skeptical! brain! (Sigh.) I recommend this to anyone whose brain gets in the way.

I really love Joyce Meyer. This book is great and not to "woo-woo". This book was terrific.

I liked it. It's funny, sometimes ridiculous. I didn't like Cameron at the beginning, but I liked him at the end. The end is confusing...I pretty much agree with this assessment by Sarah Yhann: http://thespottedmushroom.com/2009/10/27/going-bovine-review/

Outstanding. Easy read, and fascinating. My Aunt Nola (a school librarian in Mobile, AL) recommended this. I LOVED it!

Overrated. The construction is interesting, it's more like a work of art at a museum than an enjoyable read. Sometimes it seems the author is showing off his ability to genre switch (though he truly is quite good.) I didn't find it difficult to read as some have, yet the merit seems to be more in its innovative style than entertainment value. The one story I found most engaging was The Orison of Sonmi-451. I wish he'd written the whole novel of that one story.

Run (not walk) to the library/bookstore and get this book. It's fantastic. It was recommended to me by three different people before I finally caved in and read it. Happy to add another book to the five-star lineup of titles that have had me up until 1 a.m.

  • This Is Not The Career I Ordered: Empowering Strategies from Women Who Recharged, Reignited, and Reinvented Their Careers
    • Rated 4 stars

The first part is full of ways to reinvent your career, and it's for anyone at any stage. I liked this section the best, although the stories were quite inspirational as well. I do wish there were more stories about women who made big career changes without having to start their own business. But the advice in the front of the book is very good. It gets you excited and opens up possibilities!

GREAT book. A biography of an enigmatic creative genius that nearly drove others crazy in his quest for a perfect product. The story is told in a very animated and engaging way in which Jobs becomes the player in a game one is eager to see him win. He was almost intolerable in his demands of people and never seemed at peace with his success. I do hope that he is at peace now, wherever that may be. It's a long biography, but to cut it would have been an injustice. Isaacson is an amazing biographical talent.

  • The Greatest Job You Never Thought Of: How Anyone Can Find Career Satisfaction and Financial Independence in Sales
    • Rated 4 stars

I truly learned a lot reading this book. While I don't feel qualified to know how good the material truly is, I believe that it really helped (and will really help) me in my current job. It reinforced what my supervisor always tells me, plus it filled in the gaps of my existing knowledge. I want to read more books that treat sales in a similar way. Simple and non-intimidating.
