“City mouse becomes country mouse in a lean memoir of farm life in Upstate New York. As a former city dweller, I identified with Kristin's longing for and idealistic view of country life. But then, she takes up the mantle of heavy work, plough horses, calving, slaughtering and all the juicy parts. As the love affair began with a man, her eventual husband Mark, I thought there would be more romance or relationship building and while it's there throughout, Kimball keeps true to the actual dirty life. This is no fault of her own, and she rightfully keeps the pillow talk to herself, but the fiction lover in me wanted a bit more farm-y love. I did, however, love this book and recommend it. ”
