What is there to say? I have just finished seven straight years of studying art, and now the real world beckons... I also coach a volleyball team and could eat competitively for a living...

    Hey,
the road was o.k. - depressing - good in its own way - kind of like a mini grapes of wrath that you can read in one sitting; with shorter sentences. and lots of sentence fragments.
humans are bastards is the general gist, in case you've not yet caught on.

Hey, thanks for the Princess Bride review. I can't believe that 60 people opined, nearly all saying it was a must.

    Thanks again!

Nutella. Hilarious. I've only been able to find Nutella here at a small Italian bakery 20 minutes from my house. I ate loads of it when i visited Italy almost 8 years ago. I loved your friend's photographs.

Hi ... I adore Murakami. I think if you can get through Eco, you'll have no trouble reading Murakami. My absolutely favorite is Norwegian Wood, but A Wild Sheep Chase, or Dance, Dance, Dance are good as well. I haven't tackled Wind-Up Bird Chronicle yet and that one is pretty long, but the rest are average length. Let me know what you think if you read one of them.

Don't get concerned for me! I read incredibly fast and I read multiple things at once. So that, a lot of the stuff on my list isn't even finished yet. I just love to read so much, it's a little sickening. I get an hour on the train, I read before bed for at least a half hour, and I do a lot on the weekend.

    Tell me about your picture?

Ha! I don't think it matters if my shelfari friends get the context of our conversation. And those who truly care could always stalk your page to follow the thread, although that would ultimately make them extremely creepy.

Les Miserables is going to take me way longer than expected.

    Hi Kasper,
I bet you hear the voices when you read--American for Chandler (I think that is normal--gives you a bit more flavour of the culture); however, I bet you still read faster than you could actually say them out loud. People who move their lips when reading (required for actually speaking) read slowly. (When I was a stay-at-home Mom I used to teach a reading improvement course--Mom's night out!)
    Cheers,
    Wendy (Calligwest)

Re: My head start in the 50 book challenge... I add them as I'm reading them. I have a book for everything. I read 18 pages of Les Mis a night, I estimate to finish mid March. State of Fear is my weekend and free time. The Tolstoy biography is my morning book. The Twain is DailyLit.com, which means I read it when I'm bored at work.

I'm really enjoying A CT Yankee. It's hilarious. I've read The Once and Future King, and I've done some net research on the Arthur legend. I think I'm going to go on an Arthur kick. Let me know how that Steinbeck goes.
