I am, and always have been, a reader and while I like just about any genre out there, there aren't very many horror books on my keeper shelves; a few, sure, but they're definitely the exception.
And yes, I do have keeper shelves for books... unfortunately for my poor, long-suffering husband Joe, collecting is another hobby. If I can... more »

The four stories in this book were quite enjoyable. Here I've got short reviews for each of the stories, but overall I rated this book as 3.5 stars out of 5. A keeper for sure.

    MaryJanice Davidson ~ The Majicka
Life's a bit crowded for Ireland and her roommates ~ a fairy, a werewolf, a vampire, and now a zombie...especially when a mysterious man walks through the door. Will there be any room left for love? Mostly lighthearted & fun; interesting and diverse characters. 3.5 stars

    Lori Handeland ~ Voodoo Moon
For Devil's Fork-based FBI Agent Dana Duran, the only way to fight a supernatural serial killer just may be to embrace life. But little does she know that voodoo can be so viciously sexy... Different, yet interesting premise ~ looking forward to reading the Lori Handeland books in my TBR even more now. 3.0 stars

Cheyenne McCray ~ Breath of Magic
San Francisco's witches are in an epic battle. But even if Sydney can use her sultry ways and ancient Druid powers to save the world, can she risk losing her heart to handsome warrior Conlan? Interesting story, seems very much as though it's part of a series; wouldn't mind finding out more about it. 3.0 stars

Christine Warren ~ Any Witch Way She Can
A Desperately lonely witch decides to take matters of love into her own hands when she casts a cosmic personal ad...oly to find that the perfect formula for love is a strange brew indeed. Never before heard of the author, but that will be remedied... love the story & characters. 4.0 stars

This book was good ~ I enjoyed it, but there were times that I wasn't sure... not sure of what exactly I can't say, but I was either annoyed at Lily's constant putting-herself-down or gape-mouthed at the abrupt turnaround in either her or Travis's actions. But as the story progressed, it began to feel more that they were two people working their way towards something ~ something BIG ~ and such journeys are rarely direct and easy; especially when you're dealing with self-protecting behaviours learned over years and years. Both Travis and Lily were dealing with this; striving to make their feelings and attitudes mesh with what was happening between them.
Overall, this story left me with a good feeling. Not necessarily the smoothest of journeys ~ or stories ~ but this was Bella's first full-length print novel (she had three shorter ebooks released between 2003 and 2005). And I did love Travis's desire and love for Lily; he turned out to be one of the really good guys.

A touching and very emotional story. Trish Wylie's characters have so much life, so much personality that you can't help but become involved. Teagan Delaney ran from Brendan McNamara nine years before; more she ran from the feelings that he created in her... not for her the illusion of love. In her experience there's no such thing and she refuses to lower her defenses. Then, running into Brendan again, she finds that she's no further along in being able to protect her heart from him.
A powerful story about a woman's journey through fear to finally realizing that yes, love does exist for her.
Touching, heartwarming, sometimes tearful, but always filled with hope and strength.

Tom Clancy hasn't written a book that I haven't loved. So much action, such stellar characters and non-stop thrills ~ what a writer!
Jack Ryan is a hero for all the right reasons; certainly he's one of Clancy's most endearing, and enduring, characters.
Mr. Clancy also puts real human faces on those involved in Ireland's struggles ~ not necessarily sympathetic, but definitely full of life and passion.

Outstanding storytelling; Luke has always been one of my favourites and Mr. Slaughter's story just added to the esteem in which I've held this apostle. Excellent novel for anyone!

This story was totally irresisitible and, even knowing how different the two authors are that co-wrote this, I could not separate what he wrote, she wrote. The characters are full and rich, the action is non-stop and amazingly hilarious, and the mystery ~ there is a mystery ~ was excellent. I'd read this book again, right now, just because I know that, while laughing myself silly, I missed a few tidbits here and there. But I will be re-reading this book, so all's good.

This story, although written by two diverse authors, was seamlessly crafted. It contains Crusie's trademark humour along with gripping action scenes; you never quite know where you'll end up. The characters were terrific, and as happens in well-written stories, continue to develop. A couple of the secondary characters even came close to stealing center stage; namely Pepper and Gloom.
I love the relationship that grows between Lucy Armstrong, director of television commercials, and J. T. Wilder, Green Beret hired as a military consultant. Neither want to give into their mutual attraction, but they are unable to ignore it. Their resulting pyrotechnics are great fun to follow. Laugh-out loud humour and hair-raising suspense make this a killer book!

Another book read by an author for the first time that started me on the backlist search. Robert Crais's stories are wonderful; characters that could easily exist outside the pages along with adventures that keep me on the edge of my seat. Crais does it all, and very well indeed.

  • The First Day (Harlequin Superromance No. 1235)
    • Rated 5 stars

A touching, heartwarming story with an unusual heroine: She's been in prison for a murder that she claims she didn't commit. When the prosecutor for her case learns of information that could clear her, she's released into his custody. Not only does he feel that he has to make amends, but he's very attracted to her as well. A different premise but one that Barbara McMahon makes work not only belivably, but very well.

    Trust Me Once

    by Jan Coffey
    • Rated 4 stars

Jim and Nikoo McGoldrick are the married writing team of Jan Coffey, which surprised me when I discovered this as their stories are seamless and very much appear the work of one very talented author. They obviously work very well together and I consider them an autobuy author. Excellent stories with diverse characters and a tense thriller that will keep you glued to your seat.
