I am, and always have been, a reader and while I like just about any genre out there, there aren't very many horror books on my keeper shelves; a few, sure, but they're definitely the exception.
And yes, I do have keeper shelves for books... unfortunately for my poor, long-suffering husband Joe, collecting is another hobby. If I can... more »

Nalini Singh's PSY / Changeling series is on my gotta-get-the-latest-book-NOW list just because I've become hooked on the lives portrayed in each book.
The ongoing tension between the different *races* ~ PSY, Changeling and human ~ is building to a crescendo that promises to be explosive.
Each of the main characters makes me care; the good 'cause I want to see them happy and to win, the bad because I really, REALLY want them to get theirs.
The stories could, I suppose, stand alone but I wouldn't recommend it. There is a great deal of continuity throughout each of the books and you really don't want to miss any of it!

Angela Knight has written a fabulous story as usual. Her characters have an amazing depth to their personalities; situations that are gripping in their action; and regardless of the genre ~ paranormal, fantasy ~ the emotions create a realism in the story. An all 'round winner and another favourite!

Beautiful, tender story with a romance sure to please even the most discerning romantic. It's been years since I've read this book, but even after all this time I still remember how much the story impressed me.

One story written with three authors; and there was no way that I could separate one from the other. Very seamlessly written, wonderful characters and some interesting magical twists. Fun!

This was my first Anne Stuart book and it started me on a serious backlist hunt. This story is dark... very dark; but it is a fascinating look into reputations, truth & lies, and evil. The moral of the story is definitely that of "appearances can be deceiving"... Hoo boy!
I've read this book a few times since and each time I'm reminded of the power of Ms. Stuart's character delinations, the situations in which they find themselves, the absolute spookiness factor... 'cause this book is VERY Spooky.
But it's a story that stays with the reader long past the turning of the last page.
I HIGHLY Recommend this book for anyone who delights in a "smart" thriller.

  • The Black Dagger Brotherhood: An Insider's Guide
    • Rated 5 stars

This long, long-awaited masterpiece was worth every second of wait time. Even for a member of the WARDen's message board ~ and having seen a lot of extremely captivating tidbits over the years ~ this book is not to be missed for any fan of the Black Dagger Brotherhood.
Talk about a down-and-dirty yet riveting look behind the scenes, this compilation of heretofore unknown facts, in-depth glimpses into what has made our much-loved Brothers who they are, and the beautiful impact their shellans have had on their lives is a fan's dream... with only one flaw ~ it ends too soon!

At 478 pages I zipped through this book with each and every section clamouring for my attention. And there is a fascinating look into J.R.'s writing ~ the practical and the inspiration ~ that I found very intriguing. I've even told my daughter, who is a writer herself, that there is a wealth of information for anyone who shares the compelling need to write, write, write ~ and for a non-writer such as myself, I was drawn into this section as well as any of the others.

    Shaking Off the Dust

    by Rhianna Samuels
    • Rated 4 stars

I originally read this book in January of 2008 as an ebook, but as of November 25, 2008 Rhianna Samuels' story SHAKING OFF THE DUST, is now in print.
I loved this story and for a first book ~ and even for a more seasoned writer ~ this was an amazing and absolutely fascinating tale. Rhianna Samuels is on my autobuy list for sure!
While this story is a romance centered on Hannah and Takeshi, Dr. Tom Mercurio is definitely a major character, even though he is now a ghost.
Hannah and the other ER nurses considered Dr. Mecurio one arrogant SOB of a neurosurgeon. But upon his death, and with Hannah being the only one to see him, there is a definite change in their relationship: it's a gradual, yet steady progression that says a lot to the old adage about appearances not being everything.
Throw gorgeous Takeshi, best friend to one and wanna-be-lover to the other, into the mix and there are more than a few moments of hilarity. But there is a definite serious undertone to the story as well. After all, Tom was killed in a terroirist attack on his flight; he figures that he should be able to do something about it. An easy story? No. But it is a well-created adventure as well as a romance, and the progression in the trio of relationships is very beautifully and excellently portrayed.
Definitely a book that I will be reading again!

After reading these books I was more than ready to jump right back into them. I know that the more often I read them, the more that I will find in them. There is something completely and totally magical about Maria Snyder’s writing... she has created characters that will live on long past the time that most characters do so. And I, for one, will be doing all possible to make sure that these books find a much wider audience. I cannot get over just how magnificient this story and the series is... truly OUTSTANDING!!
And a further note... as soon as I had finished reading the series I encouraged my 15 year old daughter to read them. It didn't take her any more than 2 or 3 days to absorb them either... and she DID go right back into them as soon as she finished FIRE STUDY!

I truly cannot get over how such a detailed journey through Maria Snyder's world-building just grabbed onto me and wouldn’t let go. Complex and completely enthralling, this story ~ this entire series ~ has to be read to be believed. But once read, they’ll never be forgotten!

The first book in Maria V. Snyder's outstanding trilogy, Poison Study completely blew me away.
Many people on eHarlequin.com had raved about this book; the reviews were stellar and I, eventually, decided to see if they did live up to the hype.
    WELL....
A totally, completely and fabulously amazing story that not only grabbed my attention, but my heart and imagination as well. In fact, after only getting partway through the story, I knew that I needed to get the next two books IMMEDIATELY, so one Monday evening, 15 minutes before the store closed ~ thank heaven I knew where to look! ~ I got both subsequent books ~ MAGIC STUDY and FIRE STUDY. By Wednesday afternoon I had read all three.
My only regret? That I hadn't read them sooner!
