I haven't had a chance yet! Actually I did the read first one, but a long time ago. Did you get the last book? How was it? It's been a few years since the last one, was it worth the wait? What was it about? Any big surprises? Is there room left over for a last book? What would it be about?
Thanks for the response. For some reason I remember Holly and Root being on the same side but not really friends. Maybe because Root was kind of tough and gruff.
Have they stopped Opal yet? What is their strategy?
What cool technology does Artemis use in this one? Does Holly have an fairy magic to complement Artemis's technology?
DUE BACK 5/3
Thanks for the multiple responses and clearing things up for me. I think I am going to read the first book next because I have been inspired by you guys. They sound really cool and exciting.
I don't think I ever realized that Artemis and the fairies work together. What makes them an effective team? What skills do each bring and why are they stronger or better together?
How do you think they will defeat Opal? What would you do?
How are Root and Holly getting along nowadays? I feel that they had this rivalry or Root was jealous before? Has it changed since the first book?
DUE BACK 4/30
It sounds good, but I haven't read it so I wanted to know a few things. Who is Opal and what is her relationship to Artemis? What happened to Artemis? Why was he trying to steal the painting? Did he succeed? How, what happened?
What are Root and Holly doing in this one? Are they looking for Opal or Artemis? What are they trying to accomplish?
How does this episode compare with the first three?
DUE BACK 4/25
You're really cranking through the books now. Good job!
What is happening in the Opal Deception? What is the plot and conflict? How are Holly and Artemis linked in this series? Are there two separate stories, one about humans and one about fairies, or are they combined? Which world do you prefer to read about or know more about- human world or fairy world?
What other characters returned from the first book?
DUE BACK 4/23
So what did you think? What shocked you about the ending? I was REALLY surprised that it didn't wind up with the happy ending I thought was going to happen.
I could see a lot of the conflict between Coin and Katniss building. Did you see how the Capitol and the rebels were nearly the same? How so? Or if you disagree, explain why. What did Coin's final act on the children in front of Snow's palace tell you about her? Did Coin and Snow get what they deserved? Explain.
Were you satisfied with the series as a whole? Which book was best and why?
I didn't see two posts so I think everything is OK.
I agree with what you said about Mags, that was sad. There were a lot of sad parts when the tributes died (not for all of them though!), but I thought Rue was the saddest.
I also agree that Katniss is the 'leader' now. BUT- isn't President Coin the real leader of District 13 and now the rebellion. What is Katniss's role? How does Coin feel about her?
What is going to happen to Peeta? How does Gale feel about what is going on now that Peeta is captured? Has he changed since the whipping and the bombings of District 8?
What do you think of District 13? Is it how you imagined it?
Talk to you soon,
DUE BACK 3/27
I really enjoyed your posts. I like that you and Jacek are discussing the book and are excited about the movies.
I think I liked District 4 also because I like the sea and fishing seems like a job that would be somewhat tolerable. It figures Jacek is Capitol, ha ha.
What did you think about Catching Fire? What parts surprised you? It was definitely a surprise to me that the book was another 'games'. The ending really surprised me too. I liked the whole clock thing, it was a really good twist and made me think.
Have you started Mockingjay? Why is Katniss considered the Mockingjay? What does the metaphor mean? I think you'll like this one because its about the revolution. There is a lot of slow buildup but you have to stick with it. The end is great and has a lot of surprises which I enjoyed a lot. I hope you enjoy it.
Talk to you soon,
DUE BACK 3/22
So what did you think? Were you surprised they ended up back in the games? I certainly was! The new arena is really interesting. Did you figure out its secrets?
Which of the other tributes do you find interesting. I liked Beetee (spelling??) and his partner from District 3 (?). I think it's cool there is brains as well as brawn at the games. Did you figure out Haymitch's plan?
DUE BACK FRIDAY 3/16
