I've read a zillion books about special dogs. This is a good one, not a great one. I'd recommend Tom Corwin's "Mostly Bob."

I read her knitting club book, and this is all the more poignant. How she could write about he loss of her daughter, much less so eloquently and beautifully, is beyond me. A real gem.

It's funny, it's surprising, it's just a delight all the way.

Beautifully written, this is the best explanation of bipolar (manic/depressive) disorder I've ever seen. She's ruthlessly honest, extremely descriptive, even a little compassionate to herself. You may recognize yourself or someone you know here. It's that good.

When the cop comes clean, I laughed so hard I almost peed in my pants. Not quite, but you might. Vintage Fitzhugh--wild, wacky, a very fun ride.

It's music, it's Fitzhugh, it's sure to be funny and wise.

One of my favorite all-time fictional characters is Artie, the organ-donating orphan. Even if the rest of this book wasn't genius (which it is), I would love this book just for Artie.

Priest-impersonating charity-stealing scoundrels in Africa--this is a story Mr. Fitzhugh was born to write. So glad he did. Hilarious.

This book came out 15? 20? 25? years ago? Doesn't matter, I still remember that garage owner, one of the most indelible characters ever. Yeah, there's blood and guts, but Mr. King always delivers with compelling characters in interesting stories.
