JudithAnn

Hi, I'm Judith!

I like all kinds of books, but I think contemporary fiction is my main genre. I also like a good thriller, science fiction, historical fiction or chick-lit, now and then.

Authors I like include A. M. Homes, Barbara Kingsolver, Ben Elton, Cormac McCarthy, John Steinbeck and Jane Hamilton. more »

Hey, I read your review on "Essays in Love". I get so frustrated when I choose books Ithink will be great and they are so bad I can't even read all of them. I guess it happens to everyone.

Hi JudithAnn. Writing is going well (I think), but slowly ;o). It's certainly not as easy as it looks LOL. Hope you're doing well.

You could probably manage them separately, I just think one of the most interesting parts about the books is the relationship of the detectives, which is easier to grasp if you know the history.

Hey, long time no read! Have you read the books that come before it first? It will make more sense to you if you have read The Mermaids Singing and The Wire in the Blood first -- Tony Hill and Carol Jordan's relationship is confusing otherwise. I did like it. Gruesome at times, but made sense in the context of the plot. I think Val McDermid is our generation's P.D. James.

JudithAnn, I just wanted to let you know I am having trouble getting back into the Author Challenge.I had a death in the family this week and now I can hardly focus on reading much less the challenge prompts so I will be stopping in but probably not participating much in the rest of the challenge this round. I just wanted you to know so I can be included in the upcoming stuff but this is just to much for me right now.
Thanks for doing such a great job on the challenges in the past, I love them and hope to get back into the swing soon.

No I didn't get your note! How strange. I will get that English one from the library then and begin that on Saturday. Sure you can be team captain, I am not very good at names, maybe something like Eurowinners?

    Hey JudithAnn,

Hope things are sunny in the Netherlands! I am a little new to the group and haven't played one of the games before so I may need some help with the rules! I am ready to read! It seems that between us we need to read and review one book from England and another from China....am I right? Let me know how you would like to start this, I am electing you team captain! ha ha! Good to meet you!

    Hey JudithAnn,

Over goed boek gesproken...

    Groetjes,
    Monique

I know! I can't believe how fast this year is going. UGH. It'll be September soon, and as my son says 'you're going to be on the other side sliding to 40." (I'm 35 now so I'm sitting on the hill according to the 14 year old that I birthed LOL)

    Hi JudithAnn!
I wanted to ask you if it would be okay to start an OT discussion in your group The Challenged Reader. I want to promote the Summer Term Challenge of the Booktivity group. But first I wanted to ask for your admins permission. :)
Thank you in advance! BTW we are voting for the new category!

    Hi Judith Ann,
It's good to hear from you. Yes, I have been on vacation. We were gone nearly a month, just returned Saturday night, and I was able to get my hands on my husband's computer only once that entire time. I've decided I'm buying myself one of the little netbooks before another trip. I refuse to lug a laptop through airports since I do good to lug myself through these days. We saw some awesome sights visiting national parks of Washington state and California, along with the cities of Seattle, Portland, San Francisco and L.A., and all along the Pacific Coast, but I'm glad to be home!

Good to hear you're making that dent in the TBR, and it is the beach-read season so you're very timely with your light reading. I managed to get plenty of reading in during my trip.

It seems one group is enough for me, so AA is about the only one I do, besides keeping track of my books on the 100 books group. Plus now I'm on facebook, so I hang out on there a bit, too. Recently had a big high school reunion to go to and reconnected with a lot of old friends that way.

I have not heard of the books you mention, so I will keep them in mind for the future! Thanks!
