Interesting topic and yes I read a lot of N/F and spend times when that's all I read. Most recent was Ghosh's "In an antique land" set when he was doing post doctoral studies in Egypt and juxtaposed that time with the history of a Jewish trader in the N. Africa, Aden, and India. Rozoto's book is N/F too. Next is then Mormon Country which is about the history of the Mormons created their "promised land" in Utah. Mainly intending to read it because it's a good and interesting book apparently and I love Utah.
Thanks for the superb review on "A Freewheelin' Time: A Memoir of Greenwich Village in the Sixties" by Suze Rozoto. I am still a very big fan of Dylan (and New York) and am really enjoying this book and relate to your characterization of it as a scrapbook. Very clever. About half way through the book. BTW I am a fan of his musoc not necessarily the man.Couple of great and very different books if I may ...Death Comes for the Archbishop by Wila Cather - divinely English, set in new Mexico a favorite place of mine, and a really different viewpoint of the Catholic church (indirectly). But the gem is its use of English. I will read more of hers/Glass Palace by Amritav Ghosh - set across more than 100 years in Burma, Malaysia, and India. Magnificently magical.BTW I have been to Israel in the mid 1980's - may I wish the very best for your country and people.

You could be my first Israeli friend. I love Israelis too much. Shall we read the scriptures together?
Ram Dass' latest book looks good. I remember reading his meditation guidebook "Journey of Awakening" back in the summer of 1990. That was a fun summer, full of beer and parties and...meditation. I felt like I was connected with all the universe and anything was possible.
judih, have you read Diane di Prima's book, "Recollections of My Life As a Woman"? It's one of the best books I've ever read! It broadens the spectrum of the whole bohemian/beat/artist/writer in a wonderful way.
