A little about myself:
My profile pic is the new ED-209 concept for the new Robocop remake coming 2013 (courtsey of Omnicorp: We have the future under control.) As for books, I am a big fan of alternate history or 'counter factual' history, especially works by Harry Turtledove (my favorite Turtledove series thus far is the 'Southern Victory' series (11 books total). I am also something of a history buff too, particularly military history. I also enjoy reading other genres, including sci-fi and fantasy novels, in particular Star Trek (mostly post series DS9 & Voyager, not really a fan of the Original Series) and Star Wars (definitely a fan of the original movies, not so much the prequels but they're growing on me). Despite the number of rpg (and miniature games) books on my shelf, I am not a rpg gamer (I just don't think I'd have the patience considering some of those rules resemble some kind of arcane math formula) but the books are great to read, so there you are.
As for my shelf, I've tried to list only books that I own at present. (If I tried to list every book I've ever read, I would probably go mad!) There are few listed that I've read but don't own anymore. For your convenience, these books are listed respectively under the Own and I've Read shelf categories. Enjoy!
Outside of books, I collect comics (a few of which I have been able to post here on Shelfari--check them out) and rare movie soundtracks (Jerry Goldsmith and John Williams are two of my favorite composers, although I also like Elmer Bernstein and some of the newer David Arnold stuff as well). Currently listening to Micheal Giacchino's "Medal of Honor" scores--what an awesome listening experience (Giacchino is the new John Williams!) I also enjoy fishing, be it bass, catfish, or (my personal favorite) trout, though I have been unable to indulge this little hobby in quite some time. And I still have yet to try my hand at surf fishing! Oh well.
My favorite tv shows at the moment are the new Doctor Who (the interplay between Matt Smith's Doctor and Amy Pond is a delight to watch), Mythbusters (electricity and explosives, whoo!), The Soup (Let's Take Some E!), Spike's 1,000 Ways to Die (darkly humorous and somewhat shocking). My newest favorites include the new Hawaii Five-0 're-launch'--slick and very well done, it pays homage to the original series while forging a new direction of its own, Justified (Mags Bennet is like a female Tony Soprano), and Fringe (Walter is the very definition of a mad scientist!).
Feel free to look over my shelf and leave me a note anytime with suggestions, comments, opposing viewpoints etc,.
