Hello! Happy new year! I just bought the New Bible Commentary and New Bible Dictionary (3rd ed.) The local bookstore I visit most often just had the semi-annual sale I've been waiting for. It's not a Christian bookstore so I didn't have (m)any options. I'm very excited abt the books - my first bible commentary & dictionary! I'm not sure I know how to use them already. Anyway, I'm still planning to get the one on NT use of OT soon, when my credit card recovers from continuous blows this season. ;)
Thanks for the recommendations! I'll let you know what I buy. =) The book on NT use of OT looks interesting. It's a topic that's been on my mind lately. You worked on some articles about that for Theopedia, right? I'll check those out too. :)
Hi J. Barrett! How are you? It's been some time since I last had a chance to drop by. I have a question for you... I'm going to buy a bible dictionary and commentary. Do you have any recommendations? I saw the "New Bible Dictionary" and "New Bible Commentary" in a local bookstore, both are one-volume, and I think recommended by John Stott if I remember correctly. There are so many options online I don't know which to buy. Thanks!

This is weird... For some reason, you were removed from my Friend list, and my messages aren't getting sent. Hmm, anyway, I'll drop by some other time. =) Good luck with your Hebrew classes!
I think I've come across theopedia.com before. Do you have some articles there or are you working on the technical aspects of the site?
Yeah, I wanted to order books from DesiringGod but I don't think they have international shipping. :) It's a good thing that many of John Piper's books are available locally, so I have a number of his books (Desiring God, Pleasures of God, Future Grace, Don't waste your life, Pierced by the Word, A hunger for God). I also have a couple others in PDF that I got from the site. They have so many free resources.
Oh, I wanted to order books from DesiringGod but I don't think they have international shipping. Anyhow, a lot of Piper's books can be read online and I'm enjoying all their other free resources. I'm also subscribed to their podcasts.
Wheaton College... isn't that where John Piper went? ;) How do you find his books?
Wow, that's very cool. Are you studying full-time? What do you plan to do after your studies? I'm planning to take some Theology courses in the future (hopefully near future). Still in the planning/dreaming stage. =)
I've lived in the Philippines all my life. :) Which Tozer books would you recommend? Are you formally studying theology or do you just have these books for fun? ;)
Aside from apologetics, I'm also interested in systematic theology, hermeneutics, biblical studies... Is that what you were asking or do you mean which topics, like creation, the bible, christ, etc? I'm not really sure, I don't know much, but I'm interested in knowing as much as I can. How about you?
I haven't read JP Moreland yet. I've listened to one of his audio lectures in bethinking.org though. I heard his book "Love God with all your mind" is pretty good. Have you read it? I haven't seen his writings in bookstores though - I live in the Philippines by the way.
i humble myself in light of your insightfulness. thank you J. Barrett.
i am a bit confused, i must admit, as to what 'being friends' on this thing means. if you have any insight it would sure be apprecaited.
Your shelf's awesome! Kinda what I hope my shelf will be when it grows up. =)
Great shelf! Thanks for the add, bro.
