Hi Joel! I'm a bit shy and intimidated by the whole bookmooching process, but maybe one day, haha :) I would LOVE to attend one of your events and meet like-minded people enjoying books. I have some books too that I'd love to give away, so maybe I can bring them to your events in the future? Thanks! :0

Hi, I just wanted to recommend the book How to Break A Terrorist by Matthew Alexander. It is a very quick read and it has some amazing stories in it that show the good and the bad. It is basically about how the interrogators used new techniques that did not involve force or control, to eventually take down Abu Musab Al Zarqawi in Iraq. It was incredibly interesting. Have you heard anything about "The Iheritance: The World Obama Confronts and the Challenges to American Power?"

Sir, hindi ko rin po siya naabutan nung Feb 9, sayang. I wanted to attend because I was there when he launched his book under IBON(America's "War on Terrorism"). Andun po ba kayo? He presented the Bush Admin's "blueprints" for Iraq way before 9/11. I enjoyed it so much, I loved his style of teaching, that I was inspired to read up more on US Imperialism and its stranglehold on its neocolonies.
Great bookshelf po pala, sir ^^

Interesting icon name, but do you have any ideas thought out about how to go about it, and why it is fascist rather than capitalist in your thinking? The former is politics enforced with fasci, literally weapons in Italian, while the latter is about earning with work of mind and body and using the value thus accumulated to do better - a far more civilisation invention.

Thanks for the speedy response, Joel. I'd like to meet with you and check out those places. Yup, am a Fil-Am living in Chi-town for the last 20 or so years. So that indicates that am been working here as a cog and close to retirement age.

I am so sorry for taking so long to respond. I have the Crossing the Rubicon book, but it is huge and that is why I have not started reading it. I became interested in it because of a fiction novel called "The Shell Game" which was based on "Crossing the Rubicon". It was the first book I had ever read about the oil crisis and I thought the author was very creative in mixing truth with fiction. Each chapter opened up with a quote from the president or someone in intelligence. Why do you believe that the peak oil phenomenon is a conspiracy by the oil companies? Also, do you have any idea why the price of oil is currently going down because of the economy?
I have not read any books on the history of the CIA yet. I own several such as The Secret History of the CIA, CIA Black Ops and several others that are in boxes somewhere. Legacy of Ashes is on my Wishlist. I have been reading about specific intelligence operations such as Ghost Plane or traitors such as Robert Hanssen. I really enjoyed Gideon's spies.
I like both nonfiction and fiction and I tend to vary what I read. I love nonfiction books about intelligence, terrorism and the military.
I just finished a book that you might enjoy called The Shadow Factory about the NSA, 9/11 and warrantless eavesdropping. It was really informative. Parts of it where he goes into excessive detail about company information and the laying of FIOS wires and how they tapped into the lines are boring and made my eyes glaze over. The beginning was incredibly interesting especially that the NSA had all of this information about terrorists and it was never investigated by the 9/11 commission. It is also scary that Hayden and McConnell were left in charge. I hope that Obama's pick are a lot better.
Have you tried Amazon for Crossing the Rubicon? They have it for a pretty decent price at the moment.
You are the first person that I found that had those two books on your shelf.
    Happy New Year!
