    Hi!

The Minneapolis-St.Paul-Minnesota Group recently hit 100 members, so we're kicking off a 100-Member Celebration! Details are available on the group site. Hint: It involves a drawing for some gift certificates, and participation is required in order to be eligible for the drawing :-) Come celebrate with us!

Also, we've announced that our summer group read will be Leif Enger's newest book: So Brave, Young and Handsome. I'm reading this book right now and will have the discussion thread up by next week. The thread will be available for discussion this entire summer.

    Hi Jodi -
Just wanted to say hi from a Savage resident - we're practically neighbors! (well, pretty close, anyway). Also, in case you're interested, I just had a collection of sci-fi/horror stories published from Sam's Dot Publishing. You can take a peek here:

    Anyway, take care!

    Hi Jodi,

I just wanted to send you a quick note to tell you that the Minneapolis-St.Paul-Minnesota Group has chosen some good books to read and discuss together during the upcoming months. Our Group Read for the months of September/October will be The Master Butcher’s Singing Club by Louise Erdrich and the group read for the months of November/December will be Growing An Inch by Stanley Gordon West. Both books are by Minnesota authors.

I invite you to join us in reading and discussing these books. Personally, I just finished reading The Master Butchers Singing Club and thought it was a wonderful piece of historical fiction with some very intriguing characters. Should make for an interesting discussion.

    Hi Jodi!

I'm one of the co-admins at the Minneapolis-St. Paul-Minnesota group and wanted to drop you a note to say WELCOME! I look forward to your contributions to the group.

I also wanted to let you know that we are currently taking nominations for September/October group read for the Minneapolis-St.Paul-Minnesota group .The books nominated don't have to be by Minnesota authors or have Minnesota ties, but that is preferable. Feel free to nominate any genre and type of book, as long as you think it is interesting and relevant to this group. Nominations will remain open for at least one more week, at which time I will close nominations and we will vote.

There is also a separate thread to discuss how the group want to proceed with group reads in general. Whether or not to do them. How often, etc. Your input on this subject would be very much appreciated also.

Hi! I love the kind of 'focused diversity' that your Shelf offers (for lack of a better word). It's got the kind of selection i'd like to reference *precisely* if I wanted to read topics outside of my usual comfort zone -- but with the assurance that these new-to-me subjects will be handled with the intelligence and enthusiasm that I find in my more typical reading habits. Adding youto my Friends list, if that's okay.

Hi. The BookExpo should be an interesting event. I'll be coming there from Florida. I'm looking to network with other authors while I'm there. This is my first BookExpo event. It should be interesting. Get in touch.
