I am a totally enjoying my second year of retirement after teaching high school art for 33 years. I love to read and I feel sad when I finish a book. I am learning to immediately start another book and that seems to help! Things of interest to me are gardening, my pets, birds, nature, crafts, watercolor painting, antiques and writing poetry. I guess my favorite "reads" are fiction for personal enjoyment. I also enjoy history, archeology, genealogy, and Native American traditions so these topics sometimes attract me. I like historical fiction, add some mystery, and I check out the "must reads" from independent bookstore newsletters. I mysteriously found myself drawn to Maine and and simultaneously an interest in Edna St. Vincent Millay popped up out of nowhere. Some things are just meant to be. I am an old soul. I have a large collection of books written by Millay and antique books on my shelves. I have books in every room. My mother and grandmother were avid readers. I remember my grandmother telling me how owning even one book was so special to her as a child. In spite of my knowledge of technology and computing, there is still something about having the real thing in hand.
