I'm glad you enjoyed it. The free and cheap books are one of the coolest things about the Kindle. I have discovered some great authors that I love.

That really makes me happy to hear! It's going to be a series so there will be more Familiars adventures to come... and it's getting turned into a 3D animated movie! Thanks so much for the note :)

Hi, just wanted to thank you for the marvelous review of Her Fearful Symmetry. I especially appreciated the Blake reference, that would totally have escaped me and it does lend some much-needed logic to the structure of the novel.

Oh, and "Could Audrey Niffenegger be the literary equivalent of M. Night Shyamalan?" *lol* That's a great analogy. (Does that mean we've got three or four more increasingly awful novels to look forward to?)

I'll definitely be looking out for your reviews.

I agree with you on The Lost Symbol. What a snooze and the character just knows EVERYTHING obscure, yet can't understand PEOPLE at all. I wish all the symbolism/conspiracy stuff was just a little more subtle and spread around. It was like wham, bam thank you Ma'am!

Hi, Yes, I really liked Hunger Games, too. I described it as a mix of the short story by Shirley Jackson, The Lottery....and Dancing with the Stars. The Lottery connection is easy to understand. The DWTS connection I got from the way in the beginning, when they dressed up each couple to represent their district was very glitzy, and the citizens "support" their favorites. Anyway it was positively received by HS students. We have Catching Fire preordered from Amazon (already a waiting list!) I'm so envious of people who snagged ARC of it! That would be one I would have loved to get my hands on!

Finally finished The Reader. I'll bring it to MP on Monday in case you're there. If you aren't, I'll put it in school mail. Thanks for the loan!

YES!! Did you read T? Have you ever listened to them? The reader - her name escapes me, does a good job. I've revisited many of these often over the years. She's so no-nonsense, and I like the fact that the time frame is still in the 80's.

You know...it doesn't surprise me that you've been a Shelfari member for six months. Question is...why didn't we find each other here? I always love reading your reviews and seeing what you've read. I'm not as obsessed as Paula, but this is a fun website.
