we are having the most wonderful monsoon here- did the rushdie read well... i find him not so exciting any more and discovered haruki murakami- a little magical realist too...
i love your travel books - they look very read worthy- however if you have come across a great food centric book - fiction or non - do let me know.... cheers

Will check on the two travel books you mentioned. They really sound interesting. Yokohama was different but living conditions in Okinawa so soon after that huge battle were incredible. We lived in a quonset hut and could hear rats running on the roof at night. Went to school in an Army truck. Lots of stories about that place! Tell me about your background. Were you born here? Judy

Do you think I'd like Midnight's Children? I'm kinda leaning towards that one to be my next read.

I haven't read either of them yet! I accidentally bought them online one night after work when there was no one to tell me I shouldn't! (I really shouldn't...)
