Hi Jess, I'm glad you enjoyed it! I haven't been reading that much lately....but a quick visit back to Shelfari has gotton me back in the reading mood! :-)
Hi JessGlad you enjoyed the book.As for the number of books people share with you I have no idea except for the top 12 "Other people with books you have" section at the bottom of the personal shelfari homepage...it would be nice if yoy could see for everyone though.David
Hi! Sorry for never thanking you for asking me to be your friend. I hope you are fine and well. Take care!
Yes, it's me!
Hi Jess, Thank you for the friendship invite!
Sorry for the late reply. Did no one tell you that I'm a jerk who doesn't reply on time :(Anyway, about Tintin....I grew up reading Tintin, and still re-read them every chance I get. Have you seen any of the Tintin movies? Are they any good?
...and just in case you are still in two minds about "when hitler stole pick rabbit":BUY IT!! READ IT!!!RECOMMEND IT TO ALL YOUR FRIENDS!!!!Whilst I wouldn't particularly recommend Jasper FForde, I have no qualms about recommending "When Hitler Stole Pink Rabbit" to everyone! (and if I remember correctly its currently on a 2 for 1 in waterstones)
Hi JessIf I remember correctly I was not particularly thrilled by 'The Eyre Affair' and its the only one of his that I have read....the sort of auther I would probably read again, but nothing worth getting excited about...a lazy sunday afternoon read when there is nothing better to do. (I realise that I am in the minority on this one, I am often coming across people on shelfari who say he's great).
Thanks for the recommendation! I'll look up the other books and put them on my Frugal Reader list!
Hi Jess,'When Hitler Stole Pink Rabbit' is really good! I highly recommend it. It's written from the viewpoint of a young Jewish girl called Anna, and it's about how Anna and her family have to flee from the Nazi's in Germany when Hitler first takes power, first going to Switzerland, then Paris, and finally London - it's based on the true life experience of the author, Judith Kerr (who wrote The Tiger Who Came to Tea).
Good morning Jess! Oh, I'm sure it's not morning where you are! I really like Sedaris' humor. In either the Dress... or the Me Talk Pretty One Day book, he writes about the Dutch St. Nicholas. I grew up in Holland before moving to the US, and spent several years anxiously awaiting the good Saint along the canal next to my grandmother's house. He's depiction of that day, and all that happens, is by far one of the funniest things I've ever read! He's tons of fun! Carla
Hi Jess! Thanks for the invitation. I liked perusing your shelves and found several titles that are on my "wish list". There are other titles that seem very interesting ~ they'll have to go on there, also. I'll be back again...Carla
I enjoyed lookin gthrough your shelves!
