“I really wanted to love this book. The main character was engaging and well-written, the language was refreshingly obscure, and the plot was interesting. But by the last 100 pages, when it came time for the big reveal, so many of the pivotal reactions didn't ring true. I spent a lot of time going "But why would they react that way?" trying to make sense of the tertiary characters' behavior - behavior that was ultimately necessary to the book's conclusion, sure, but didn't quite fit. ”
