Would you have an audio book player suggestion. My old Zen just died and it's hard to find current info on players that are good for audio books. Thanks,

No problem Jeremiah. I didn't get my book mailed out until a few days ago. I'm in the middle of the new Stephen King book. Haven't read anything by him in years but this one intrigued me. I'm almost at 200 pages and have barely made a dent. Send it when you have time..........Thanks Reen

Thank you for the kind words about "Elk's Resolve". Would you do me a very big favor? Please post a review for it on amazon.com. So far there are none posted for it there. It really does help a lot. I appreciate your kindness.

I will be a good girl and get myself something. Promise! But I don't have to send myself a gift card cause when I place an order, it automatically deducts it from our "kitty".

Whew! Finished my England book and posted the review...moving on to Peony in Love for China, but I know that one won't be as fast as a YA book will be. I just hope it's interesting!

The next leg is Japan and France, and I'm afraid both of the books I have picked out are pretty lengthy so they are going to be much more slow for me...I think they are both somewhere around 400 pages? Do you have a preference of one over the other?

Well and that's the thing...a lot of them choose books specifically because they are short. I'd rather read things I was already interested in that happen to also fit the tags, if that makes sense. The only book I ended up going to the library for was Peony in Love and that's just because it fit Author Author too...otherwise I would have taken all things from my TBR.

Okay, you got me with the Special Access thing, but then I realized that I turned our Hot Rod into a boil of simmering broth :0) HA!!
The poker tournament didn't happen. We had sold my car, the Camaro isn't made for long driving and the only car rental store in town was sold out (can you tell we live in a small town?) Poor hubby :0) But he has a job interview this week in Biloxi, so we have to go over then. Still working on getting another car.

Thanks for the Native American recommendation. I grew up on 10 acres and always had some kind of animal. During my horse-years, I would wish so bad that I could be an Indian!! I always rode bare-back, couldn't stand to use a saddle. Oh, the daydreams of the young :0)

Currently, I just started "The Forest of Hands and Teeth", and for the monthly tag, I ordered a copy of "Travels with Charley" from Paperback Swap. Also hoping to read "Where is Joe Merchant" for the month. There is another group challenge I'm working on and one of the prompts is to read an author from our hometown. Technically, Jimmy B was born in Gulfport, but he calls Alabamy his home. Works for me :0)

How about you? And if you are working two jobs, when do you have time to read? LOL!! I just started selling some stuff on-line so I could make some extra money. Keeping my fingers crossed, my store opening was last Thursday and I have had 4 sales so far. But I'm doing something that I love, so it's fun too!!

I tend to change it to match what the monthly tag is because the variety amuses me.

Sounds good! I've got my book ready to go too, and a nice quiet weekend ahead of me so hopefully I can finish it in a day or two.

Hi partner! Just checking in to see if you're ready for the journey ahead. Do we want to consider planning ahead for who will read which country for each leg in the event we don't win a leg and have to try again? I've managed to find something on my shelves that will fit every tag, so I have all the countries covered. Since I know your reading time tends to be shorter due to other things you have going on, are there any countries ahead of us that you definitely know you want to read for (or not)?

That would work. Or, if you're part of the Author Author group too, you might want to stick with Snow Flower since Lisa See is one of the author choices for August. either way, you'll get double duty.

The challenges definitely make people expand their horizons, that's for sure! I'll be intrigued to see what a guy thinks of Snow Flower since most of the reviews I've read on the site have been from female readers.

Do we want to come up with a team name? I'm afraid the only thing that I thought of thus far was J&J and that's not terribly creative since I just got home from work and I work for Johnson & Johnson.

Well I'm going to try for the individual challenge as well as the team challenge so I'll be reading for both anyway, but this way I can start with the England tag, and then if I manage to finish the China tag as well we can go with my two reads instead. I am a fast reader most of the time but it also kind of depends on how "into" the book I get and what else is going on.

I did just find a copy of The Adrian Mole Diaries on my shelf (who knew that was there??) so I am going to go with that for the England tag. Since it's a young adult book, I may get through it fairly quickly.

No need to apologize, by the way! I'm competitive but not anal about it; I'm more interested in enjoying the challenge and hoping we find some good reads along the way! I really liked Snow Flower; I'll be interested to see what you think of it.

No worries, write when you can!

They haven't posted all the new details yet, so it's a little hard to say, but I've been able to pull a few books from my shelves that fit certain countries already. Are there any countries in particular that you either really want to read something for, or really don't want to read something for?

I am a SAHM, my hubby has a souped-up 1968 Camaro and we are taking a road trip today so he can be in a Poker tournament this evening, I can use all the ammunition I can get!! Just kidding. Although the Camaro is his daily driver, it's both of ours and the tourny is back in my hometown, so I get to see my Mama! But the really funny thing is his birthday day is 2-12...12-12 & 2-12. Weird.

As you can already tell, I ended up with a lot of books. So I needed to edit some, and I felt like The Blue Notebook, Quaker Summer The Last Lecture and The Shack all had the same kind of feel to them, so I just edited that one. But I still entend on reading it at some time. Have you ever read "Blue Like Jazz" by Donald Miller? I enjoyed it. A little different perspective but still something to think about. From Paperback Swap, I just received a copy of "365 Days of Walking the Red Road" - The American Path to Leading a Spiritual Life Every Day. Lately, I have been fascinated with the Native American culture and have been wanting to read more about them. Not sure if you noticed, but I had "Bury My Heart at Wounded-Knee" on my list. I'm excited about that one. I'm just so overwhelmed with books right now. I think I have 5 from the library that I'm trying to read. I read "A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court" for the monthly tag. I enjoyed it, didn't see all the negativity in it that some people saw, but it did take me a long time to complete the book. I just couldn't get more than a few chapters read at one sitting. And with two kids running around, my sittings are pretty few and far between.
Hope you have a good weekend. Going to play any golf? Take my husband!! :0)
