Based on a true story. It was a bit slow to begin but a fascinating portrayal of what might be the first case of autism chronicled. Halfway through I remembered seeing the movie L'Enfant Sauvage in 7th Grade(French Immersion) based on this same story.

URG. I'm glad I didn't have to buy this book. I kept thinking I'd missed something, sending me searching through what I'd already read, as characters were introduced as if we were supposed to know who they were. Further, the sex was gratuitous, the plot confusing and the people not fleshed out at all. When a book makes me look on the internet to figure out Whodunnit, and I am NOT stupid, the author has missed the boat. A GIANT miss.

Perhaps one of the oddest little books I've read. Maybe ever. I'm giving this a 4-star because I'm pretty sure I'll remember it for a very very long time. It felt like this should've been a film script - and in Neil Gaiman's forward he even suggests it should be made into a movie a la Shrek - and I can totally see it. If you like historical fantasy novels with a modern overtone this might be the one for you.

Wow! Could "Dad" be any more Mordecai?!? Don't think so! Great story telling.

A loving book about one man's death and how it affects everyone else in his life.

Not for the faint of heart gardener, Montague Don's passion for this piece of land goes beyond "just gardening". In fact through the course of the book all he manages is the hardscaping. But I was with him on every shovelful of dirt and wheelbarrow full of compost!

5 stars from a 10 year old's perspective! I read each and every Walter Farley book being a horse crazy pre-teen. The movie is quite stunning!
