Original, imaginative, epic. More scifi than the romance section it was shelved in, Fire Dancer features likeable characters (Fssa~~) and an interesting love story. Above all, it's a good adventure.

In Fire Dancer, Kirtn and Rheba are made slaves on a planet called Loo, in an attempt to find another set of Bre'n and Senyas. (Which they do) Along the way, Rheba employs a group of mercenaries called the J/Taal, who have interracial mental communication and are only allowed to defend themselves if they are employed, performs in an Act, and leads a slave rebellion. I really liked this books, and while others don't rate it all that well, I think it's definitely worth a second or even third read. :)

I loved the cover. I liked it so much I saw it just once, but looked for it (lazily) for months after. When I finally found it...I felt empty at the end of the book, probably much like Holly did. It's a rather sad story, and in some ways, reminds me of Belle De Jour (The Intimate Adventures of a London Call Girl) -- except Holly's view is probably more disillusioned. Not for the monogamous, I guess. -wry- (Had to suspend belief for the duration of the book...left thinking at end whether I'm the only one who thinks it's reasonable to expect your significant other not to cheat? :/)
