Happy Reading from Nicaragua! A Korean-American living in Nicaragua as a missionary with 3 kids, teaching 20 Kindergarten kids who bring joy and stress at the same time. Reading helps me escape from so much injustice I see here, yet it is also a passage to hope.

this is her second novel that I read.. her books are so thought provoking and I love how her characters develop... I remember when I was in eighth grade these 3 jocks used to follow me after lunch and would call me "chink, chink".. even though at that time I didin't even know the meaning of the word, I knew it wasn't meant to compliment me...haahaha... but even at my age now (early 40's) I still remember those days so vividly...bullying has existed forever... we need to teach our kids to respect and embrace the differences in people... so it doesn't lead to wars, big or small. Unlike her other book I read (sister's keeper) I figured the ending early on and knew what was to come...but still an important issue we all need to think and talk about...

I loved it; it's my first Jodi Picoult's novel, but I know it will be the beginning of her many... The characters are real and easy to identify. As a mom, I understand the struggles that Sara goes through in order to save her dying daughter....such a shocking and sad, yet somehow fitting ending..

This is one of my all time favorites..."it is only with the heart that one can see rightly, what essential is invisible to the eye".. even though I have read it more than four times, it always allows me to take a few moment to think and evaluate my lfie...

don't know why, but the book occupied my thoughts for days, without really knowing what i was thinking, except I felt sad for the people of Turkey and all other countries that go through war and injustice, basically our whole humanity... it left me emotionally drained.

The story details the life of the Trueba family, spanning four generations, and tracing the post-colonial social and political upheavals of Chile. The characters are mesmerizing. The end of the novel where the main character does not take revenge on those who committed crimes against her is very touching. Her realization to stop the cycle of hatred against another is a lesson we all need to learn today.
