Just Hello my Friend!JasIt's been a while....I just stopped by, to say....I Love U, and that, I have missed U, and Much!
Hi :)How are you enjoying the Hunger Games? And what is your own book about? Is it available worldwide? (Online, I guess, but in stores?)I see we have Karin Slaughter in common so you like crime? Check out Chevy Stevens (my latest find) and also Susan Fleet's Absolution. She is a member here on shelfari and I just started her book yesterday after a loooooong wait (for our library to buy it in).Hope all is well with you.Fiona :)
Hi! Happy New Year! I hope your year is starting out right. Did you have a good Christmas? Mine was surprisingly mellow considering how wacko my family is. I actually had a pretty good time with them this year. When do you think you're going to find out that you got the embassy job? Soon I hope! You must be super busy. You haven't been here in awhile. I hope everything is JAKE (ha ha) with you!
hey! the embassy job sounds cool. i hope you get it! i think you oughta think about mexico though. when i was there last year for 3 weeks, i never wanted to leave. i love it! i was in oaxaca and mexico city but i'm thinking i might like to live in veracruz. it's on the gulf of mexico. it's WARM all year round. sigh...it rains a bit but it's only a light mist.. they call it chipi chipi. and they grow orchids, vanilla and coffee. big coffee place. i could garden all year long. ah, that would be like heaven. my own mango trees and everything. ooh no, i'm not thinking i'd enjoy toronto much in the winter. brrrrrr!!!! but i'd like to visit some time and see that tower thing. and montreal and the maritime islands. especially prince edward island. i've read that's nice. that must have been copasetic to have your bro there for a visit. i'm reading this book called "100 countries, 5000 ideas." it's about what to see and do in, well, 100 countries. I haven't gotten to the phillippines yet, it's in alphabetical order. where do you live? i'll see if i can find it. i'm using my atlas at the side to help me locate exactly what i'm reading about. it's been a good geography lesson.
Hey! ooh that sounds exciting! the canadian embassy, ey? the tests sounded like real bruisers. i'm not quite sure i understand though. since the test was supposed to be in thailand, does that mean you'll be living there? (i'm just assuming that naturally you'll get the job) what will you be doing in the embassy? like issueing passports or something? or writing something? obviously i don't really know what goes on in embassies. oh okay. copasetic is a word from like the jazz time during the 20's i think. it means like, jake or alright or just plain FINE, you know? i don't remember where i first heard of it. and actually i think the word jake is more like okay. like, oh, it's jake with me. not sure, but that's the way i usually use it. not much interesting is happening to me. things just keep movin' along. pretty much today like the day before. i just think a lot about really wanting to move to mexico. but i can't yet, i don't have enough money saved. .....sigh. ain't that always the way? well, it is with me anyway. it's raining a LOT here. which i don't mind at all. because it means it's too warm for the "s" word. snow, that is. we don't get much snow here thank goodness. it's pretty and everything but it's a bugger to drive in. and i just do NOT like the cold. i just keep dreaming about the sun.....
Good luck with the job then! Hope you will get it :)My biggest problem with a grad school in the States is that I need not only to get accepted, which would be easy - okay, maybe not into Harvard, but my GPA from college is very high and I have excellent letters of recommendation too - but I also need the school to PAY for it, because I don't have any money and as a foreigner I can't take a federal loan. So I can only apply to schools that offer graduate assistantship positions - and that's where it gets very, very competetive...I'm a total idiot when it comes to ANYTHIG related to computers, internet, and technology in general, and that's why I need my roommate!!!Except that he always gets me drunk like he did yesterday - my head is about to explode...As for my anti-patriotism, you are damn right, and I also think that the world would be a way better place if everybody stopped being patriotic, because nothing good ever comes from it - EVER!!!
oh poo! I'm bummed. I'm sorry you're drifting away. no, i've never been to goodreads. i joined up to another book place, librarything, when i was working on my blog but i never go there now. i like shelfari a lot. i think it's copasetic. i'm sorry you don't think so. you can find your messages by clicking on "home" up at the top and in the right hand column is "your content" and under there is "notes" and that's where all your messages are. anyway....does this mean we don't get to "chat" anymore? phooey... but i'll go check out goodreads....
No kidding! When I was still living in the U.S., I found a lot of things annoying - and now, when I have to deal with incompetence, arrogance, stupidity, and mess on daily basis, I can't appreciate the American system more :)It's very unfortunate that even if a miracle happens and I will get accepted to a grad school (didn't do that well on the GRE like I needed), I can't apply for the visa until summer and I definitely won't be able to leave before the end of July. So I'm stuck here for much longer then I expected, espceially now, when I decided to give up on the idea of having a temporary job in England - the economy is such that finding a job could take time I don't have, and also my dad is sick, so I wanna use the opportunity to spend as much time with him as possible...Let's jus hope that almost a year in this country won't cause a permanent damage to my mental health, soul, and body...I'm going crazy from not being able to read books in English. Thanks god that my roommate is at least able to download my favorite shows and movies...So how long do you think you will hang out on that island?
Hey! Long time no see!Been busy with learning how to live in this idiotic country again...GRE is bullshit that is required by most of American graduate school, so they can see what your abilities are. It's supposed to test your English and math on college level, and the results are supposed to predict how successful as a student you will be. The higher your score, the more interested schools are in you. Even though all sane people already know by now it doesn't really work that way...I can't even read in English now!!!I can practically FEEL my brain cells dying one by one :(Hope you are doing okay and living in some less stupid country...
best of luck with your new book
Hey you know what? I just started reading a new book by one of my favorite authors, Laurie R. King. and in the author description it says she was the honored or guest or something speaker at bouchercon in 2010! how about that! and I actually know what bouchercon is now, thanks to you. I'd never heard of it before you told me you were going there. so there you go. hope you're feeling okay and didn't get the cold too bad.
eww! that's a ton of no fun! do you have this medicine that you can buy off the shelf in the phillipines called "airborne"? it will stop your cold in nothing flat! no joke! it always works for me but you have to take it right away. it's just a tablet thing you drop in water. and drink lotsa water too but you already know that. hope you don't get really sick.
Hey! Well, I didn't expect you to be around for awhile because you said you wouldn't be so that's okay... I don't know about any group of 7 here. I've heard of the gang of 7, a bunch of politicians or something but I don't know about any authors. What do they call that band that Stephen King, Amy Tan and I think Dave Barry are in? I thought that was a gang of something. dunno... glad you had fun at boucheron. did you take any photos? did you see James lee burke? I don't know what happened when I tried to make a comment at your video. it wanted to know if i wanted to post thru my e-mail address or something and i was reluctant to put that out there. i wasn't sure exactly what would happen. I don't think there's anything wrong with it because someone else didn't seem to have any trouble posting. just me...ya know?.. big surprise. anyway no matter, i was able to tell you how AWEsome i think it is here.glad you're back!!!
