I am a librarian in Lansing, MI. I read quite a bit for enjoyment, as well as for my job. I read a little bit of everything, but the areas that I know the most about are Graphic Novels, Young Adult Lit, Fantasy / Sci-fi, and to some extent general fiction. I will not use Shelfari to show the books I actually own and have on my real life book... more »

Simply one of the most fun sci-fi books ever created. This is a book about children who are chosen to become the worlds best space soldiers to lead the world against the invading space aliens called buggers. These children are taken into space where they will train for many years at a sophisicated battle school, and most importatnly they will learn how to lead while playing the most imaginitive battle game I have ever read about. If you like sci fi and you are looking for a fun story look no further!

This is one of the all time great Young Adult novels. It is the story of a young high school girl who is dealing with a horrible issue. Something has happened to her that has caused her to become a very introverted person who is slowly losing her grasp on her life. Very few novels have dealt with some harsh realities of highschool life quite like this one has.

Nerdfighter and YA author John Green has created a wonderful novel about a young teen who is spending his first year in a private boarding school. It is full of all the great things that you would hope for from smoking and drinking, to friendship frought with both joy and hardship. Its a great read. I would also reccomend checking out the ongoing video blog between John Green and his brother Hank which can be found at www.brotherhood2.com. It is hilarious!

This is the first book in a series which currently has two books with more to come. It is a fun story about charcters in a fantasy novel who have been brought into life when one of the characters uses his fantastic ability to literally read people or things out of a story. It is a fun book and its sequal is even better.

This book is one of the best YA books I have read in the year or two. It provides a very different view of ww2 than most pieces of fiction do and it is simply a very gripping story told from a great perspective.
