Hello J the Coug, I read Shelfari has you as a member with Tom Clancy’s Threat Vector and would like to recommend another Thriller, "The Diaries of Pontius Pilate.” It draws upon the author’s Special Forces background and has great reviews. “Diaries” is not a vanity or self-pub book, but is published by Trestle Press, a small independent press outside of Philadelphia under its imprint, My Helping Hands Press, that gave an unorthodox novel - “Diaries” is a hybrid, part military, part religious intrigue - a chance. Full disclosure - I wrote it and hope you’ll give it a chance - on Kindle, Paperback, Nook or Kobo.
Best wishes, Joe Lewis www.josephmaxlewis.com
Hey, good news, I was in a bookstore today and found book 3 you were looking for. But it is trade paperback size, not the usual mass market books you see (I think the edition is the Fall River Press- you can look it up on the Shelf). If you don't mind that size I can grab one for you, I told the owner your plight, so I don't think he will sell them all out before I can get back there. I would have grabbed it but wanted to make sure first, I don't know if you are a stickler for the book being a certain edition or not.
Well, a little spoiler alert. Books 2 and 3, Gods of Mars and Warlords of Mars are connected (as you probably guessed having read the end of book 2). So if you read book 4 you won't lose anything since ERB tells the story of Cathoris (John Carter and Dejah Thoris' son) and Thuvia (from a land that gets attention in book 3, I believe, but not really that important). I hear you about competing with collectors, some see OOP and automatically jack the price up to unheard of levels. I have all next week off, I am going to the Oregon Shakespeare Festival on Wed, so if you want I will look around my haunts, I found all mine for about 2 bucks each. When I find it I will send you a holler and you can send me your address and I will post it to you (post-haste).
I just finished a book called "Sarah's Key" -- it's about the round up of the jews in France. It starts out great, but ends terrible. I'd recommend reading half of it :) Other than that I'm trying to get my hands on "Ender's Game" -- We're off to baseball xoxoxo
Is that the series that has the LDS author? I have had it recommended to me a bunch of times. I think if i am going to invest in a good book, I want one that different people from different circles reccommend, that is one of those books. I may have to put it on the top of my list.
Afraid I don't have a real good one for you at this point, "The Red Tent" may not be up your alley. :) I am a girl and I thought it was creepy.
Jared! Hello brother!
I am not a big reader, here a little and there a little (I mean GROWN-UP books. I read to Sadie ALL DAY)--kinda burned out after college. A friend just set my up with shelifari, don't know much about it. I am excited to hear what you are reading and maybe jump in!
Kisses to everyone from us! Keep us posted on your sweet family, and as always, you are in our prayers.
