Januari

That's my new nephew, Ethan!

I love me some books. They are delicious, yum yum.

You can generally tell what I am reading or have just read by what is at the top of my shelf.

Well, growing up I read more John Saul, Dean Koontz, Little House on the Prairie, Judy Blume, Beverly Cleary, Trixie Belden, Sweet Valley Twins...more »

Yes, I did read David Sedaris' new book. It was funny, but definitely not as good as "corduroy" or anything. We were ok with flooding, nothing has happened to us or any of our family, so we were very lucky. i will have to check out that last book club book, I do love memoirs!

    Hey Januari:
Hope all is well with the book club! I miss you all. Have you read any of the Twilight series yet? It's young adult, but when I picked up the first book, Twilight, I couldn't stop reading until I had gotten through all three. OMG...I was obsessed. If you are looking for a fast summer read, start with Twilight, by Stephenie Meyer.

So glad you joined Guilty (Reading) Pleasures! I thought it was about time we had a place to talk about those books we love to hate the fact that we read and own. I think there's always room to expand our lowbrow reading lol.

You know, I often just throw out my campus's faculty paper, but yesterday I flipped through it and found a piece on the writer of 'Playing' who lectures on creative writing here, and thought it sounded interesting. Plus it's always nice to give a fellow faculty member a boost in sales. ;) all that to say: I haven't read it yet, but once I do, I'll be sure to let you know how it pans out. Heck, you might get to it before I do!
I see 'Sister of My Heart' is a recent addition for you. How'd you like it? I read it years ago, and remember loving it to pieces.

Hi Januari! I just signed up for Shelfari last week to try to get the word out about my novel, and since you're in the the "chick lit" group and like San Francisco, I thought I'd drop you a note. AND because you like John Saul- I used to work with him! Very very cool guy. :)

Anyhow, my book, “Perfect on Paper,” is about a single woman in San Francisco whose life is hardly perfect. I thought you might want to check it out. I have to start somewhere to get word-of-mouth going outside of my own friends, right? :)

If you decide to read it, I hope you enjoy it- and if you enjoy it, please spread the word b/c grassroots marketing is all I have to get this thing off the ground!

Thanks Januari! (and my book is on my shelf if you want to check it out)
