Wow, that's alot of snow! Stay warm. I fell off the wagon yesterday - had an hour between work and rodeao and stopped by UBS. Bought 9 books. But I'm ok now, will jump back on the wagon today. ;)

The last time we got snow of any amount was 1985. We just watch it on TV.LOL. We are having the big rodeo and stock show right now and there is always cold wet weather, but no snow. We laugh because we think that 40 degrees is cold. My husband's parents own a ranch in New Mexico up in the rocky mountains and they get lots of snow, so we go there when we need a snow fix. I know ya'll probably think that is crazy, but we don't have to live in it like ya'll do so we still find it fun. Hope you and your family are warm and safe. I'm not getting much reading done as my whole family is involved in the rodeo, but it will be over this next weekend and then I will kick back and relax with a good book.

So true. Total abstinence is the only thing working for me right now. But I'm determined to lower that TBR pile before I hit the bookstores again.

I have to stay away from the internet sites - I'm totally out of control there. I mean; you can get any book any time. My credit cards would be smoking. It is not easy being a bookaholic.

Your welcome! I know, I find this and the RT boards are something I check everyday now! I had too many books in my TBR pile before, but between this site and RT my list has doubled! There's too many good books out there.

I think mine are making baby books at night while I'm not watching. LOL I'm on a self imposed no book buying period. I hope I can keep out of the bookstore until the end of March. By then I should have some room on my shelves (I hope). But I start to have withdrawal pains if I don't go in a bookstore.

Thanks for the insight into Lorraine Heath. Althought I do like humor in my stories; like you, I don't like them to be silly. I also don't like too much tragedy. As an ICU nurse I have seen enough heartache and tragedy. That doesn't mean I don't like drama, just not a lot of "I hate you" stories. I'll have to look into L. Heath (If I can get my TBR pile down to a manageable size) LOL

That's too bad. Neither my husband nor my children are allergic to cats. Thankfully. We have enough other allergies to make up for that. I've had as many as 4 cats in the past, but Seamus is an only child now :) Not counting my husbands 2 labradors. I noticed that you really liked Lorraine Heath. I've never read anything by her. What did you like about her? I love cowboys (have one of my own), and stories of the american west are just so fun.

Oh sure thing ! Mostly what I have learned on here is thru trial & error... there are still alot of things I haven't figured out lol

Books won't hurt you, its the ideas ! lol Jacqueline Carey is a fave of mine but the sexuality in it is rough.. just a warning.

I blame Harry Potter lol.. After I read the Half Blood Prince, I was still wanting to read.. I think it was the beginning of a book hangover but that was four years ago lol.. That is a long hangover :) Paranormal doesn't appeal to everyone.

Rachel Caine, Jacqueline Carey & Jim Butcher are the three that jump out at me when I think of Urban Fantasy. Jacqueline Carey is total fantasy but it is just a literary feast to read.. If you like dragons, try Naomi Novik. She wrote an excellent series that is considered Historical Fantasy called Temeraire.. Basically the Napoleonic Wars but with dragons.. Couldn't put them down !

You only read the historical & contemporary romances, yes? Not the paranormal or urban fantasy?

:) the theme in one of the discussion groups for this month's contest is glyphs (RE: Lara Adrians Breeds) or tattoos.. All the members put up their avis based on the theme then they vote on the winner. Last month it was vampires. :) The winner sends their pic to the admins & the discussion group features it for the next month.. It is lots of fun .. One of the other members found it & sent it too me.. lol
