Iya, so you've read Siddhartha! It's one of my favorite books of the year. I absolutely loved it! It's so deceptively simple (the meaning of the novel is so profound that there's a danger of missing it, no?). I wanted to moderate this book, since Gege wanted a classic, and I feel that we're ripe for a classic book discussion. But I kinda feel that The House of Mirth discussion would make for a great event!

Hi, Iya! I'm so glad that you liked The History of the Siege of Lisbon. I don't think there's any edition with a map though.

How are you finding I, Claudius? It's my favorite book of all time! Claudius the God is good too.

It's probably a first edition too, I'm guessing. I bought my trade paperback at Booksale too, although I do see hardbacks at NBS for 100 pesos. First edition! And no one's getting them!

Thanks Iya, we are in the same situation, my TBR is now a tower, hubby is complaining of books everywhere in the house. That's why i was re-arranging my books last year and in the process, i lost track in what box i put the books, di na kasi kasya sa shelves ko.

See you in the book discussion someday!

    Hi iya!
I tried emailing you from Bookmooch but i failed twice, so i use the shelfari notes.

So sorry, i wasnt able to mail the books on Monday as promised, my net was down too since Jan 14 so failed to email right away. Anyway, the reason was that i misplaced the Guernsey book...and im leaving for Thailand tomorrow, so mga next week ko na talaga mapadala. I hope you dont mind the delay. The 2 books are ready for mailing na.
    Thanks!

Hi, Iya! Actually, my favorite Saramago book is The History of the Siege of Lisbon. I guess I could really relate to the character because, at that time, I will a proofreader myself. Hehehe.

Blindness is my next favorite Saramago novel, followed closely by Baltasar and Blimunda (a love story), and The Gospel according to Jesus Christ.

Hi, Iya! Is Death of Interruptions as good as the other Saramago novels? I've noticed that you have it only 3 stars.
