Thanks for the quick reply-- its so nice to meet you!
lol I know what you mean... I had been putting off "Gone with the Wind" for a while too, but it is my grandmother's favorite classic, so I finally decided it was time for a try! Well, moment of confession. It seems I am the only person in my family who actually likes Scarlet. :P Just her fierce independence, I suppose. Because I liked the movie, I did enjoy tasting the book and being amazed how like the movie it felt. There are interesting differences and even for such a large book it does flow surprising well. Overall, I think this is a great classic to have on the shelf even if you only surf through it. :)
Yes, I actually do have a book right now I would highly recommend. It’s by Bodie and Brock Theone (Christian fiction) and called Veinna Prelude. It is easily findable at Amazon or Barnes and Nobles. Brock Theone is known for his thrillers and Boddie Theone for her romance, so together they make a "cover-to-cover" type of historical fiction. This book is set in Germany/Austria/Hungary very near to the beginning of WWII. I highly recommend it-- which is usually rare praise of a book from me. :)
As a matter of fact, I am trying to compile a list right now of good books to buy. I have worn out my usual circuit of authors and would really appreciate any suggestions!
Hope you have a great day :)
I am a friend of Joanna Orsatti's and first saw your profile while reading reviews of a sequel to The Scarlet Pimpernel. :)
I just found you as one of her friends, and was really surprised by all that we have in common (books on women spies, historical fiction, classics). Many books I read, there are not many other people who do! :) I thought I might drop a note to say hello, and also, as I saw you are reading Gone with the Wind, to ask how you are enjoying it. I am also reading it, just into part two. I was surprised by how readable it is, being so long, though I am sure it will take me longer than the usual to finish this one. :)
I am reading Mrs. Pollifax on the China station. I'm not that far into it but so far it's good. I haven't been doing much, we have the Turnbulls visiting us right now and we are going to go to the pool sometime this afternoon. What about you? When I read "To Kill a Mockingbird" I thought that Scouts family was a black family for about the first 60 pages. :)
Hey! I LOVE White Collar too!! My friend just introduced me to it the other day and I'm hooked! I have to by the season box sets now! :)
Oh my goodness it is definitely my favorite show. :) sooo good!! Neal is like soso smooth!! :) So you have 3 seasons to watch, huh? Yeah, the fourth season starts tonight and im soooo excited! eep! :) Its funny because my brother totally reminds me of Neal. And so its kind of weird because Neal is so goodlooking and my brother isnt. But just the way he acts. :)p lol. Its pretty awful. ;)p
The bidding confuzzled me also! I WISH YOU WERE HERE! It was so nice out today! It would have been so much fun to go to the park or take a walk or something! Oh well. I can not wait to be with you at the lake! It is going to be so amazing! I will hopefully have my license by next summer so technically I could drive over. I think I might have to talk to the parents though. :) Love and miss you TONS!
You just read Cardturner? I loved that book! It is one of my favorites. After reading that book I really really wanted to play bridge and when I played cards I would count up my points. I really didn't like Cliff. He irritated me a lot! Can't wait to see you!
Yeah, her style of writing is pretty cool .:)
Haha, oh thanks. Hes pretty awesome! :) Flynn has got THE best lines in that movie. :) I love him! :) My sisters friends Fiance' (yeah yeah lol) asked if he looked
like flynn rider . . . he doesnt. lol! oh wait Eugene Fitzherbert. lol!
Awww, memories with the Janie series. How are you liking it? :) I stopped reading it for some reason . . . i can;'t remember why. : / lol. Have you read the time travelers series by Caroline B. Cooney? Probably her best series. And her book "Wanted" and "Code orange" are super good too. :))
Aw! I hope you feel better. What are/were you sick with? We are getting some sun today! I am so happy! For the last couple days it has been rainy and gray and rainy and gray and more rainy and more gray! Augh! I want SUMMER! I can't wait for the cabin! It is going to be SO much fun!!! Love you!
