Shan

Shan

A cuckoo sat on a tree, and sang,
"Summer is coming, coming;"
And a bee crept out from the hive, and began
Lazily humming, humming.

Yes, summer had come, and the cuckoo sang
His song through woodland and hollow:
"The summer is come: if you don't believe me,
You have only to ask the swallow."

Hi Shan, thanks for writing! I did really like Garden Spells. I rated it 4 stars, and put another book of hers, The Sugar Queen, on my priority tbr list. Here is my review for Garden Spells:

Charming, enchanting, delightful, magical, quick and easy to read. The story line is pretty standard: formulaic and predictable. But never mind. What makes this book delightful and different are the apple tree (you'll see!) and the special gifts that the Waverly family members enjoy. Evanelle, the elderly cousin, is particularly captivating. She has an irresistible urge to give people bizarre presents. Her choice of gifts and the ways in which they prove essential to the recipients, are creative, endlessly entertaining, and delightful. The book is also filled with the joy inherent in gardening and cooking - it makes you want to go out right now and cook and garden, too. I hope to read more from this author. If you like Alice Hoffman, you will enjoy this author also.

No, I'm not playing. I didn't do Last Tagger Standing either. I briefly thought about it, but I have a hard enough time getting one (though for Africa I managed 2!!!) book read for the tag of the month! My reading time is usually on transit to and from work. At home, I don't take much time to read (I spend too much time on the computer!!). When I do read at home, it's usually to catch up on the magazines that I subscribe to, or to read the newspaper. I also have a HUGE list of books I want to read that have nothing to do with PBT (though if I have one on my list that fits the tag - it gets moved to the top!)

I do like the other games that Anita starts up, though (Recommendation Game, You Must Choose, Meet Greet and Be Sweet), so I always try to do those.

PBT can be crazy and I can see why new people have a hard time. I joined before Anita started the really big games (LTS and TITTM), so I had a good idea what was going on before the craziness of the group!!! It is really fun, though.

Maybe I should have posted to the thread - it has become buried again! Are you playing Tag it to the Max? All those threads tend to take over!

Hi! I was going to post this to the PBT Recommendation Game thread, but I thought I'd post here instead. You recommended Shannon Hale to me. Wow! She must be very popular. Most of her books in my library are checked out and/or have multiple holds on them. There are a few at one of the locations I can get to, or I could put my own hold and have it shipped to a better location, but I already have a couple of holds I'm waiting for for other fairy tale books. If I happen to be at the library (or nearby), I'll check and if there's something there at that point, I'll pick it up. Thanks again, Shan, for the recommendation!

    Hey there :)
I'm not a big fan of Archer but this book is different.
If it all goes smoothly with "Kane & Abel", you should check John Grisham and Sidney Sheldon :D They have amazing books!

I know what you mean about that bone dry pocketbook. If it weren't for the "used" books at Amazon, I don't know what I'd do! :)

You are absolutely fine, Shan. The page number is not a mandatory thing - - it's optional. And the first thing I would do with any questionable book is look it up by title and look at the top tags . . .so no worries!!

I'll miss the clubhouse. But I'm so glad we'll still be seeing each other. I'll make sure to make January's tag a really good one. Although I sincerely hope it won't be the opening tag to another LTS. I need a good amount of time off from that excitement. BTW I love your avatar!

I am going to be sad over the clubhouse but we all will see each other on the boards. I too wish we were in the same town. I don't have any friends as book crazy as we are on here. this was really a fun group and a fun challenge. :)

I wish it would rain here. It's rained a tiny bit but it's been at night. And by a tiny bit I mean that it rained for about 5 minutes last night. LOL! I'm excited for Tag it to the Max to start, although I've got to hurry up and finish my current book so I can have more time for that. LOL!
