I'm back in school and hence, sleep deprived. I never knew that I would be able to read a textbook from cover to cover, but I am about three quarters on the way of finishing my Chemistry textbook. sigh... it was never in my list of things to read, but there it is.

I just wanted to say I have the exact same feeling about 100 Bullets as you wrote. Every time I'm finished, I want to read the whole thing again. (also love that mystical thing about the Atlantic City incident, that is just covered from different angles in different story arcs)

    Hi Carleen,
Well I'm back and hopefully will get down to some reading now!
Would you be interested in being part of some kind of book club/group here? Just a thought I had, that it might be nice to get a group of readers together, say once a month, to discuss a (chosen) book.

No, I'm not but I have a friend who knows the Univ well because he applied there for a tenure job as a lit prof but got accepted in USC. I am still applying for residency training here in the west coast. Gosh, I am so mean in the forums but normally, I am a happy and loving person. Nyehehe. NY Public Library is my home. Their Broadway DVD collection rocks!! Have fun!

Hey! Thanks for dropping by. Oh, I hate pretention and stupid pinoys denying their identity to look sosyal. Sorry, taga-UP ako at hindi ko kayang i-tolerate ang mga ganyan! Haha. Katuwa naman ang place nyo, Cornfields, but if you are near Urbana Champaign, you are one lucky person! I guess you are near the Univ. And guess what, I am a geek too! I bond with geeks and do everything they do. Keep the faith and keep that Fiipino pride burning!!

Haha, I know exactly what you mean. In general I identify as a pacifist, but I love my violent movies and books :P But I think you'd really like Death Note, it's fantastic ^_^

I've never read Akira all the way through, though I finally saw the movie last week. I think it mostly depends on what you're looking for. As you like Dexter, I'd recommend checking out something like Death Note. But for the most part there's girl manga (Which more romance sort of stuff, called shojo) and boy manga (which is more fighting, gaming, that sort of stuff called shounen). It there's homosexual stuff it's called shounen-ai or yaoi. So it mostly depends on what you're comfortable with seeing and reading.

But like I said my favorites are Death Note which is about two geniuses in battle of wits, one has a book that can kill anyone if you know their name and face, and the other trying to stop him and his idea of justice. It's really really good.

Saiyuki - this one has some more yaoi overtones and swearing. It has four men on a quest, and it's a bit more complicated then that, but I love the art and dialogue

Beck - Beck is about a band, but it has a really different take on the whole coming of age story. I really love it :)

Kindaichi Case Files - Kindaichi is a high school Sherlock Holmes, each volume follows him solving a case. They're all really good, and most can be stand alone. The way the murders happen are really creative ^_^

Neon Genesis Evangelion is really good, it's a classic. I don't think it's all been translated to English yet, I can't get my hands on the last few volumes, and I really want to.

Bleach is a very good and popular manga. Not every one likes it though. but the main character basically becomes a death god and things keep changing in his life.

    I hope that helps :)
