Carlos Delgado

Carlos Delgado

I am married. I have two dogs. They are very cute. My wife is also very cute, but in a different way. Finally, there is a baby boy named Jonah, also cute. Recently, we moved home to California, from Pittsburgh, PA, where I studied writing. We have many friends and family here whom we're glad to see and to live near again.

Re: Blink. Um, well, sure. I guess I wasn't thinking as deep as Augustine or Plato, but I thought it was interesting how some folks can make quick decisions--like the women who knew what factory the cookies were made in by tasting them.

oh, what did you think of Blink? I read it a few years ago and then was in a book club discussion at my library last night about it.

notes cleaned up, and please stop spamming me! :-) I love Shel Silverstein, I hope my children will read Silverstein and listen to Raffi. My sister went through a phase where she was reading books called 'My Sister Does Drugs' and 'My Daddy Drinks Too Much', hopefully Jonah has more discriminating taste. Is normal still normal when there is a baby involved? Or does it take on a whole new meaning?

Yes, I'll still be your friend even though you're proving yourself with virtual books on a web page. By the way, Dr. Seuss is a much more admirable choice than Dr. Laura. Dr. Seuss is a subversive genius. Dr. Laura....

There you go Carlos. N&G and East of Eden. Yes, I did like them very much. I have to say that this whole shelfari thing though feels a bit like a "look how smart I am" game. That never enters your mind when you click on a new book...does it? =)

Yeah, 'nerdiness' could be my middle name. Speaking of nerdiness, I'm reading a book on the history and symbolims of the alphabet, creatively named 'The Alphabet' and 'The Map of Love' by Ahdaf Soueif, pretty good but not yet great. Back to Powers, he was recommended to me by another writer, so he comes from 'good people'. We are doing well here, feeling settled and enjoying traveling around europe. At the moment, life is good.

Carlos, you have really inspired me! I have been adding books left and right from people's shelves, and I noticed we have a lot in common reading-wise! Have you read anything by Richard Powers? He is one of my current favorite authors, a very 'smart' writer!
