"There is something about words. In expert hands, manipulated deftly, they take you prisoner. Wind themselves around your limbs like spider silk, and when you are so enthralled you cannot move, they pierce your skin, enter your blood, numb your thoughts. Inside you they work their magic." The discussion has been posted for the Good Reads November selection, Mistress of the Art of Death.

We're doing something different for December to wrap up the year. We've posted a list of all of the books nominated that weren't selected with the hope you'll find the time in December to read one of the books you voted for that didn't win and, then, share your opinion with us! Feel free to also share your thoughts on any of the books you've already read.

I would love to see some material regarding steampunk. The author of Soulless (which both my daughter and I really liked) has somethings to say about steampunk on her web site. Her book, itself, is not steampunk but has a midge of the feel in it.

I'm still trying to get a handle on magical realism and would like to know about some domestic authors in this genre (or at least authors with English as an original language). I've been wondering if Charles deLint may be somewhat in that genre.

No :) I don't make my icons. I browse through deviantart.com and find them. Oh, and those aren't bats like I originally said they were; they're black birds of some kind.

You have a good weekend too!

    Hi!

Thank you for your friendship invitation. I've just recently been thinking about exploring steampunk but haven't gotten much into it yet. I'm still predominantly in paranormal mysteries. Steampunk and magical realism (which I realize barely are related to each other) just grabbed my interest and I would really like to explore them.

The icon will change and change often. I am trying for a Halloween theme right now. It's difficult to tell at that size but there are pumpkins and bats around her ...
