I recommend Ghost Wars: The Secret History of the CIA in Afghanistan from the Soviet Invasion to September 10, 2001. It won the Pulitzer Prize in 2005 (I think) and is really interesting. I read it after reading the 9/11 Commission Report, where it was quoted frequently.
for some reason i can't get the recommend feature to work. it is frustrating me as i accidentally deleted one of my books and then had to re-add it. anyway, i HIGHLY recommend the SOG books by john plaster. they are really a great read about the guys who did all the behind the lines stuff in the NAM (and cambodia and laos for that matter). you can see them on my top 10.
