Spiritual books have always been important to me, if I were to be relocated on a dessert island, I probably would choose "Mr. God This is Anna". Why? It is funny, touching, spiritual in a unique way, and a true story. I like good intellectual books, silly books, books that provoke thought. I am upbeat, I love good writers who know how to "turn a word" so it can be seen in the imagination, without tripping over their verbage (or lack thereof).
I write poetry that has been published since I was 10 years old. Maybe because of this (or not!) I love poetry. check out "Moon Song" by Mildred Plew Meigs, if you think you don't like poetry, or that it is too diffiuclt to get into, Meigs will change your mind. The best way to read this one, is out loud. If you have problems finding this poem, email me and I will send you an email of this poem, out of my 40 year old copy of "The Big Giant Golden Book of Poetry."
Probably my favorite literature if pinned down, is Children's lit, because it is not so full of "thou shalt not" and "no no, we don't talk about that!" I guess that's why I like Sharyn McCrumb's first book "Zombies" ( love all her books, but this one's a classic)! because she wrote it as a JOKE while she was doing her master's degree about her Committee Professors--Okay? And it won a very prestigious award in the Sci Fi Genre..Perfect. Get my point: Nah, Nah!
