    Hey Robert!

Just wondering if you've read Dan Simmons' CARRION COMFORT. It's just been re-released in paperback. You know how much I enjoyed SUMMER OF NIGHT. If you've read it, does this compare to that? I know it's about vampires and it's quite a tome.
I have it on hold at the bookstore and will buy it when I work again.

    Take care!

Hi Robert, not heard of that one, the plot sounds a lot like the wicker man. I have read her first novel, "Birdman" it was very good. Just been over to her site (http://www.mohayder.net/welcome.html) and she has a few more books out.
Still ploughing through "severed" at the moment it's taking me ages to read a book, just seem to only be able to catch a few minutes reading in bed. Ah well it could be worse.

    regards J J

Pig Island, that sounds interesting :) I'll have to check that out, the title makes me want to read it already. I haven't started Under the Dome yet, but I'm looking forward to getting to it once classes are done. Did you like it? I'm guessing you must have if you missed sleep for it!

    Me again.

Forgot to tell you that Wilson said people were so confused about what happened in the film of THE KEEP that they bought the novel just to find out. I guess tons of copies were sold.

    Hey Robert,

The mystery day was great fun. Lots of people--300 at least. Interesting panel discussions and interviews.

    F. Paul Wilson hated the film version of THE KEEP. In fact, he called director Michael Mann "an ego on two legs". He was sent the screenplay and told Mann that he was wrecking the structure of the novel and it would eventually collapse on him. And I guess it did. I'm nearly finished reading the novel. Very good. In fact, I bought two more Wilson books at the event. Didn't have him sign anything, though.

    Take care!

Another DOME review in the New York Times by Janet Maslin. Very positive and this one I understood completely. She liked it.

I've been trying to find a copy of Thomas Tryon's HARVEST HOME. It's been long out of print, but I have found it listed here and there. Tried Powell's Bookstore out in Oregon but they're out of it. I haven't tried some of the other out of print sources available. And I haven't made a trip to Half Price Books in awhile. Have you ever read it? I remember it being fairly horrific. Another book of his THE OTHER was reprinted last year. I have a copy. Now that's a tremendous horror novel. The movie sucks.

    Happy Reading!

Hope your eyes aren't bleeding after reading all day.

I still feel connected to the book even though I finished it three weeks ago. Don't know if you read the New York Times review of it on Sunday. Talk about a critic who is in love with himself. Oof! I couldn't understand half of what he was saying. And after I read the entire review I still said, "Well, did you like it or not?"

    Hi Robert,

Just unpacked ten copies of UNDER THE DOME at the bookstore tonight. I'm putting it on my bookseller recommend shelf since nobody else in the store has read it. Still enjoying THE KEEP and looking forward to Saturday and the mystery event.

Did you know that King's son Joe Hill has a new novel called HORNS coming out in Jan. or Feb? Can't wait for that one.

So are you staying inside and reading the King all day tomorrow? Just be careful you don't injure yourself as you read it. It's a hefty tome, that's for sure. I'll be anxious to hear what you think.

    Take care!

Hi Robert I hope you enjoy the magic cottage. The latest book "Severed" was given to me by my sister in law as a belated birthday present. We readers are easy to buy presents for. The write up is good and one of my favourite authors, Lee Child (will have to put some of his books on my shelf) gives it the thumbs up. So it has moved up to the next book I read. Have just had a week off work and thought I would read a load of books, but no chance, I am actually looking forward to going back to work for a rest.

Maybe I will have to look into some of his other stuff. I finished reading Manhattan Hunt Club and I loved it. It was so original I have never read anything like it. I like how Saul switches the point of view and you always know whats going on with each character.

Thanks, Robert. I'm really enjoying it. And I'm going to meet Wilson on the 14th at a special mystery event at one of our local libraries. As far as I can tell, THE KEEP is now out of print...as are the rest of the books in that series. Have you discovered that? Can't believe that such a thriller can go out of print.

Got to see a finished copy of the King, dust jacket and everything. I was a little disappointed in the jacket. They had promised so much. And there aren't any "liner notes" on the flaps of the jacket. Now, that's quite strange, since readers won't know anything about the book until they start reading it.

    Happy Reading!
