Exiting news for a history buff from Wisconsin! Steven Faulkner, a writer who shares his craft as a creative writing instructor at Longwood University in southern Virginia, will be signing his travel memoir, “Waterwalk: A Passage of Ghosts” at BayShore Books in Oconto on Saturday, May 31 from 10am-noon. In 1996 Steven Faulkner came to realize he lost touch with his teenage son, so as a way to bring them closer, they took a two-month canoe trip. They followed the route first taken in 1673 by the early French explorers Joliet and Marquette to discover the Upper Mississippi River – 300 miles along Lake Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, 300 miles across the entire state of Wisconsin, first up the storm-flooded Fox River and then down the Wisconsin River. Finally they turned south on the Mississippi River and floated down the Big Muddy 400 miles to St. Louis. www.bayshorebooksllc.com

More exciting news at the Suspense & Thrillers Group…as you might already know that Keith Katsikas, author of “2060: The Newton Prophecies” will be leading a discussion on his book. We don’t have a date set up yet, but will in a couple of weeks. In the meantime, Amanda Stevens, author of THE DOLLMAKER, has also agreed to lead the discussion for May’s Group Read, which is THE DOLLMAKER. I’m really excited as this is something new and might become a new trend with our group discussions. If you’ve already read the book, come join us. If not, see if you can grab a copy. There’s still time as the discussion won’t begin until the first week of May.
Thanks for the add. Drop me a line anytime.~Shane
Thanks for your friendship. I look forward to checking out your books and I hope you enjoy mine.
Fantasy is my favorite genre also. I also like mystery and action. History - nonfiction - is another favorite of mine and I am still adding my history books to my page. Do you have a favorite time period that you read about? Mine is the middle ages and the black plague. I am also interested in Spain's and Ireland's history. Nice shelf!
