I love to read. I am extremely passionate about all things literary. There is nothing in this world that I get more excited about than books. Finally being done with my school years means there aren't a lot of people around who want to discuss books with me. Actually, most people find it annoying when I get all worked up about something I'm reading. Or look at me in horror when I say I read over 50 books in 2007. (50 Book Challenge - Proving Steve Jobs wrong one book at a time). That's why I needed Shelfari - to meet crazy book junkies just like me.
Other Bookish Tidbits (including an explanation of my name):
As evidenced by my name, my favorite author is Hemingway. I chose Hemingway Heroine not because Hemingway is like a drug to me, but because I believe that Hemingway's female characters deserve just as much recognition and analysis as his 'Hemingway Hero'. My favorite Hemingway novel is 'The Sun Also Rises', followed in a close second by 'The Garden of Eden'. Other favorite authors include (but are not limited to): Jane Austen, Kurt Vonnegut, Barbara Kingsolver, and Shakespeare. Typically, I keep close to the classics, but am always willing to venture away for more contemporary fiction, although you'll hardly ever catch me reading anything Mass Market. I'm absolutely not interested in Romance, and generally not interested in SciFi or Mystery. I detest Nicholas Sparks to the utmost extreme. Good writing and great characters always get me. Lately, I've been trying to branch out and read more non-fiction. I like to think of reading as a continuous learning experience. And lastly, also as of late, I've been really stuck on the Russians, particularly Tolstoy. I'm sure I'll be adding him to my list of favorite authors soon.
