I love to read. I am extremely passionate about all things literary. There is nothing in this world that I get more excited about than books. Finally being done with my school years means there aren't a lot of people around who want to discuss books with me. Actually,... more »

I need your advice. I spent this past weekend watching the entire Game of Thrones series on HBO. I got my hands on book 1 of the series and I'm hesitating on beginning it. I LOVED the television show. But I also loved the Lord of the Rings movies and then when I began the books I could not get into it. Are these books very similar to Lord of the Rings? if I hated one will I hate the other? Any advice would be appreciated...

So glad to hear you liked Geek Love[/ii]. I adore this book. Dunn supposedly has another book in the works tentatively entitled, The Cut Man[/ii] but who knows when it might come out (sounds like it's based more on her journalistic experience reporting on boxing).

Well, when I heard the Morgan Freeman quote I hearkened back to our excursion into Hemingway's short stories. However, I found the quote came from For Whom the Bell Tolls and not from the short stories. "Seven" may be the only movie (that is not one of Hemingway's own) that ends with a Hemingway quote.

I was watching the movie "Seven" and I was pleased to find out it ends with a Hemingway quote from For Whom the Bell Tolls. The quote is "the world is a fine place worth the fighting for." Morgan Freeman says I agree with the second part. The entire quote is "the world is a fine place worth the fighting for and I hate very much to leave it."

Read Bossypants. It's like reading a book by Liz Lemon.

I wish mine would do that! People seem to think since I work in the book industry that I don't need books as gifts and its quite the opposite... I'd rather ALWAYS have books as gifts!

I know you love (loved) Project Runway. I just finished Gunn's Golden Rules by Tim Gunn and had a lot of fun with it. He had a ton of insider information about the inception of Project Runway, the contestants, and the judges. And he seems to really need to say what's on his mind. The book is honest and his little anecdotes about his life were endearing. It will take you like 10 minutes to read, it's fast and enjoyable. Miss you!

I did not know until just now that you were an admin for the Gilmore Girls group. Is that group still going? I had joined it when I first joined shelfari and then in an effort to not spread myself too thin, I dwindled down to groups that seemed to not overlap too heavily. Well, just popping in to say hullo and all that.
