I just picked Essex County up, the guy that runs the local comic shop told me to get it. I just finished Hereville, subtitled 'yet another troll fighting 11 year old orthodox Jewish girl' and that was really good too. I've been wanting to read some of the Vertigo graphic novels too but haven't got around to it yet.

Hey Nicole, what's your favourite graphic novel in the past year? Mine is Pedrosa's Three Shadows, followed by Small's Stitches and lastly Scott Pilgrim 1-6. -B

    Are you enjoying it?

I was going to try to get a bit through Dorothy Parker on the plane but it was too loud and my ears hurt so I couldn't focus!

I tried really hard to like the Sandman series (read the first four) but overall I found the story to be a bit confusing. My friend let me borrow them but I never had enough interest to finish all of them. Do you think that you would bother reading any more of the Sandman series? Have you read "The Watchmen" I really want to read that and "Kick-Ass". I bought them both but have yet to start either.

I ended up really enjoying Sputnik Sweetheart even if the end was a bit odd. Hopefully by the end of the year I'll have read Kafka on the Shore, but first I want to finish "The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo", "Before the Frost", He Knew He Was Right" and finally "A Wizard of Earthsea". What books are you reading next?

I've never been big on short stories (admittedly, I've never really given the art form much of a chance) but I'm thinking of starting to read more . What about you, do you like short stories? Where would you recommend starting if one were to get into short stories?
This summer I've read two novellas "Shopgirl" by Steve Martin and "The Member of the Wedding" by Carson McCullers, both were really good actually.

    Happy reading!

Personally I hated high school, and could not wait to graduate. However I loved university, probably the best time I've had. I think that it is wonderful being able to take classes that you are interested in, or be able to learn a new language ( I took German for awhile). University was so freeing, and also dorming and living on my own was fantastic. Which option do you think would make you happier? To be honest I'd rather be getting a degree in theatre, and living in Cardiff, but I guess for now I'm happy to be in Library Sciences, sort of..

I'm about to start reading Kick-Ass the comic book because I loved the movie so much. Really excited to be reading it. have you ever read any of Neil Gaiman's Sandmand series. They were pretty interesting, I'd recommend them actually.
What you said about Murakami makes sense, which of the ones you have read is your favourite?

I'm studying to become a school librarian, though I'm having second thoughts if that is really what I want to be doing. I'm in the process of debating whether I should just finish the degree or go back into undergrad to study something else. I'm not very happy in library school, but I guess in the end it would afford me enough time to get better at knitting or work for a yarn shop on the side. My program basically combines an education degree and general library science classes.

How far did you get in the program before you stopped? What would you like to teach in high school?
What is the comic book Air about, and hopefully you can find the second volume for it. How is Haruki Murakami, I heard that he writes a very interesting book. Recently I bought Sputnik Sweetheart, have you read that one yet?

    Happy reading!

    Hi.

I'm in my first semester of library science school. It's been alright.. That must be wonderful to work in a bookstore, it would be nice to have a discount on books! What didn't you like about studying to be a librarian? What are you reading now?
Sorry I haven't been on Shelfari for a couple of week either..

I liked Wimbledon Green but not as much. It's one of those very finicky character studies and you really have to be interested in the character....Seth is brilliant so I'll read whatever he puts out but it's appeal is very different from It's a Good Life.
    Happy New Year :)
