Squek!

Am currently addicted to reading "historical fiction".

A good book should leave you... slightly exhausted at the end. You live several lives while reading it. ~William Styron

I might not be the best judge for this book, because I hardly ever read any contemporary fiction. I do think books like this one are important because they raise awareness. I really wanted to like this, but for me the writing was only ok and the story never really grabbed me. I ended up giving it 3 stars, maybe 3.5, not bad, but I wanted more from the story. However, that's just my opinion, the book seems to get higher ratings than that on average. I'd love to hear your opinion when you're finished!

I'm happy to hear that you are getting lots of great book ideas through the historical fiction group! You to be read pile and wish list will grow exponentially being a member of the group :-)

Feel free to ask me about any of the books on my shelf. I haven't read them all...since I buy books faster than I can read them...but any I have read I'll be more than happy to share my thoughts on.

    Have a great day!

I'm reading "Blood and Thunder" - non-fiction account of how "the west was won". It is actullay a really good read, though it is taking me a while to get thru. I've just finished "The book of negroes" for last month's group read - it was really excellent, a 5 stars. And I've only just started "The burning land" by Bernard Cornwell - it's fiction, about the UK Saxon period. I'm really getting into this period at the moment. I've read Cornwell's books before and have always enjoyed them.
