Hi Jennifer :) Wow, I wish I could have learned Arabic in Jordan. I'm actually going there this summer. Did you enjoy Jordan? I'd love to hear about your time there, any recommendations of things to see/do?

Hi Jennifer! Thank you for your note and add as a friend. I am married to a Palestinian-American. I just finished learning Arabic, I just need to keep up my practicing and developing the skills. I will definitely try the book you recommended! I am always looking for more books for my wishlist. Have you traveled to the Middle East? Where did you learn Arabic?

I agree, we can and should claim Lehane! I haven't seen Gone, Baby Gone yet but I can't wait! I loved Mystic River ... the movie and the book. Its so rare to love both. I've heard that Gone, Baby Gone is really brilliant. And I can't wait for his new book next year. Thanks for staying in touch,

Hi, Jennifer. Email me anytime. I do know that the requirements are different from state to state, but I can point you to resources.

It was really hard to work part-time and homeschool when we first started but I've worked hard at teaching the girls to be self-learners. I'm here if they get stuck but now I work more as a facilitator. I tell them what needs to be done each week or point them to places and people to ask questions for their answers or hire tutors for them. It's amazing how much easier it is when they are self-learners and it is also amazing how much more they learn with this method.

    Hi, Jennifer,

Thanks for the kind note! I see the Lehane books on your list. He's one of my favorites, too! And another Floridian -- well, at least he went to school here ... right?

I'll look forward to checking out your work.

    Thanks for the friendship,
    L

See below. That's such a neat thing to say. May I use it as a blurb on my website? If so, send it back to me at HoJoNews@aol.com and I'll find a special, warm, fuzzy place for it.(-:

Hi, Jennifer. Homeschooling is hard work but worth it. Every family has to choose what is right for them, however. I really believe that each child is different. If you ever have questions about homeschooling, feel free to email me. You can grab my email from my website :)

    Dear Jennifer:

It is, ta da! The Frugal Editor: Put Your Best Book Forward to Avoid Humiliation and Ensure Success.

Check Your Sell-Your-Book Expertise with Carolyn's Quiz

Every writer should know the answer to these or know how to find out :

    1. What is the rule posted by most agents and publishers I can break in order to sell my book faster?
    2. How can a style sheet help me edit my book or work better with my editor?
    3. Why do I need to know about indexing?
    4. How can I corral Word's Spell Checker to help rather than hinder my editing process?
    5. Why is editing important to getting a publisher or an agent when my publisher's editor will help me with that anyway?
    6. Why should I rarely send out a cover letter rather than a query letter?
    7. Why should I avoid using italics for internal dialogue? How do you avoid using them for internal dialogue?
    8. What perfectly natural and grammar-perfect thing should I avoid telling an agent?
    9. How can I turn adverbs that slow my narrative into metaphors?
    10. How can I purge my copy of passive constructions using a computer?
    11. How can code words in my document help avoid humiliation?
    12. How do I avoid superfluous quotation marks that annoy agents and editors?

If you don't know the answers to most every one of these 12 questions without peeking you are sure to benefit from the newly released
